George Plaster Returning to Radio July 23rd

The only thing Plaster does that I like is the Silly Underdog picks, even though that's gotten worse over the years, especially when they added Kelly Holcomb. Holcomb is a nice guy I'm sure but doesn't have a good voice for radio, unless it's NASCAR.

Side note I clicked on the link and the Tennessean told me I have only 14 free articles left. Do they actually think people will pay for the Tennessean?

I saw that too....that paper is really struggling. Circulation of the paper itself dwindles by the year, and so now they are making their website subscription based.

Yeah good luck with that.

That's why Vols fans listen. He's no different than Finebaum. He rips on UT, Bama, UK, etc because that's what gets people to listen. If he was doing nothing but singing UT's praises all the time, the other fans wouldn't listen, and UT fans wouldn't be nearly as invested.

I think Plaster's fans are dying by the day, since they're all 65+.

Yeah but CT doesnt have the benefit of an Auburn. He does a good job getting the fans riled up with James Franklin. I know fans who fans who have quit listening to him because of his antics. But sadly many of his haters turn out to be his biggest supporters.

I thought the same thing about Plaster - but he walked into the Green Hills Y the other day and that dude is a rock star. Unbelievable to me but everyone there loves that SOB.

I hope he can get Doug Matthews back for that Friday Football show they used to do.

I wonder about that too. Matthews still has his weekend shows and seems to be doing well. I wonder how long his contract is with 104.5.

Oh boy, I have waited all year to hear how the Braves are doing.

Every single bit of this.

Altho as a cards fan, victory was even sweeter after having to endure Plasters unending bad coverage of the braves.

As someone else said, this is the return to radio that absolutely no one cares about.

This thread is "getting Spicy", I think it is time to talk about my "bravos". Where is "nick the Stick" These days?

3hl will 100% spank them. Plas did well because there really wasn't anything else on. Now that he has competition he may take a few but not many at all. And 3HL is a great show, my only complaint is when Blaine tries to be journalist and sounds like a tard asking "tough" questions like what is your favorite color? He is good when speaking about NFL news and recruiting. He is the only weak link.

Sadly Nick the Stick passed away in 2010. He was probably the only part of the show I liked cause he didn't take any crap from George.

I really like Blaine but it can be painful to hear him ask questions.

Otherwise I think he is great at not really being partial to any teams.
To his credit too - he has called Travis out for having a double standard on James Franklin.

Nick was awesome. I loved his segments, and he really had that old school type radio voice. I loved the back and forth between him and Plaster. On top of that, he had the added benefit of knowing what he was talking about.

Whatever station has Coach Matthews will get me to listen. I would rather it be 102.5 rather than the 104.5 teanieboppers. I wonder if they will have Murphy Fair (I am a big high school sports fan) at 102.5 or 104.5. WGNS in Murfreesboro announced they are in the Plas network today.

Anybody remember "The Rocky Top Reporter"? Back in 1989, he was hilarious. Might have been on the old Duncan Stewart am station sports program.

Nick Hunter died a while back. I loved his segments on the show.

I am looking forward to actually listening to sports talk during the afternoon, rather than listening to the inane drivel that Travis spews

They'd have to be to hear him, 102.5 can't be picked up in Murfressboro very well.

People listen to Travis and Finebaum because of the subject matter. They talk college sports, I don't want to hear about Predators or Braves or Grizzlies or Titans.

I agree - but it wouldnt shock me if he gives 3HL a run for their money.
Clay Travis has fallen out of favor with a lot of vols fans in nashville.

Plaster ,for reasons unbeknownst to me, he does have some die hard fans that absolutely live and die with him.

It would shock me.

Percentage-wise, 3HL is the highest-rated sports talk show in the country. Seriously. That one show generates more ad revenue than Cumulus Nashville's country station does.

Clay Travis is a tool, but he gets people to listen and those listeners support their advertisers and turn out in droves for remotes. It's truly remarkable what they have done.

I am a 3HL faithful listener, I like Clay and think he is the type of arrogant $^%hole that would qualify to be friends and have a couple brews with. Brent too.

this may or may not be related but it was announed today on 97.1 that the station had been sold and a new format beginning on Monday (7/16). While they wont have Bob and Tom the bigger question is what will they do with Vandy sports. Evidently there is some concern about the station continuing to air their games due. It would make sense that they move to 102.5 as their loyal mouthpiece is now a part of the station but a move this close to kickoff is nuts. Humm....

Dang it, the only reason I listen to 97.1 is for Bob and Tom.

Are you serious? Losing Bob and Tom would be terrible.

cant - work wont allow streaming. Hopefully they'll land somewhere soon much like they did when they switched from 102.9 to 97.1.

Might have to join their VIP site and download the podcast every day
