Georgia’s best

Hate to be this guy , but Ga could have won by 40.
And... UT could have won the game outright.

UT's D showed up. They held UGA to their lowest point and yardage output of the year. So don't be that guy and give the Vols some credit for hanging in while the O played its worst game of the past two seasons.

Final was 27-13, so that's 14 points.

Dawgs only threw the ball 4 times in the 2nd half. They went ball control and clock management. Game was over at the half.

A team that averages 50 points scored one total TD in garbage time.

Vols are one of the best teams in the country but they are not beating Georgia with a mediocre secondary.

If UT's O had showed up then it would have been a different game... none of us know how. We do not know if UGA would have continued to make good, uncharacteristic plays at WR. UT lost control of the game. Credit to UGA... but it could have been different had Hooker hit some of the deep shots he missed... and some he didn't even throw. The WRs got open vs your secondary. The coverage was tighter than HH is used to but they still had opportunities late in the route if he had trusted them more.

The last time I checked... it was the team that scored the most points that won without regard to your subjective evaluation of a secondary. UGA made some good plays. Some atypical plays. They gameplanned away from their best offensive player. Kirby seems to have had significantly more respect for UT's D and even their secondary than you. I remember one blown coverage. To their credit, UGA earned the rest.

Just not true. Did you not watch the game. They threw all over us the 1st half and barely through it the 2nd half. It was raining and they knew the only way to let us back in it would be turnovers. They knew they could shut us down and didn't respect our pass game at all. If they wanted to keep throwing it would have gotten ugly. It's not rocket science..anybody who knows football will agree with me.

You’re not completely right there. Georgia could’ve possibly thrown and named their score, it’s a possibility. That said the last thing Kirby wanted was an offensive back and forth. If Tennessee started hitting the deep shots that were there; Georgia would have opened up the passing game. Now they probably win but that’s not what the Georgia staff wanted in this game.

Yall keep talking like yall offense was ever a serious threat and Kirby was just scared shitless to throw the ball. We were up 21 and was abusing yall's safety turned CB. Yall literally had no answers for just a decent WR and Stetson Bennett. Yall are literally the reason why Stetson name is in the Heisman convo. Reality is yall offense does not scary UGA and it wont until yall can consistently run the the ball.

It's not like they weren't trying to score in the second half. It was tough to throw the ball in a monsoon, so they ran it. Our rush defense is still elite and held them under 4 yards a carry, despite not getting a sack. They also did throw the ball deep to try to score with 4 minutes left. Given the score, we had to throw the ball even in the rain.

Don't discredit our defense. They played pretty well outside of a couple big plays. They arguably have us a realistic chance to win, but the offense just couldn't put it together.

UGA fan... yall wouldnt accept my normal tag... But UGA scored what they wanted. We are a banged up squad and getting the clock too 0 was the goal once it became apparent that yall didnt have enough to beat us.

I'd say you scored what you could. KY and UGA were the only two P5 games we showed we could keep opponents out of the end zone. UT defense is just now settling in. Kirby don't smooze around like he don't want to score for a few drives. THat's bogus. UGA, however, did do something no one else has done and that was rattle HH. Ya'll didn't even rattle him that bad at UT last last year. He was off his game in a bad way. No way CKS accepts that 27 points was enough. 14 points in that game after the media bath they all had I promise you has him pissed. He wanted nothing short of a blowout. Everyone and their dawg knows that if UT could have found any kind of spark, it was going to be a sprint to the finish.

One thing I didn't get however is why Milton didn't get a possession or 2 to get HH on the sidelines and re-program him.

Tennessee will not play Georgia again this year....
I actually think we will.

I think our remaining season looks like this:

12 November - vs Mizzou
19 November - at South Carolina
26 November - vs Vandy
3 December - bye week
...
31 December - vs Michigan (maybe Ohio State) in the Peach Bowl
9 January - vs Georgia in the National Championship Game, Inglewood, California

So yep, I think we do play them again.

Go Vols!

The scoreboard said 13, but my eyeballs said 28.
Nah. UT was the deer, Ga. was the headlights. The first quarter actually accounted for all of Georgia’s scoring (dawgs were inside the red zone on that last Ga. TD AT THE END OF THE FIRST QUARTER). They were held to their 2nd lowest point total this year (26 @Mizzou). Lowest yardage. But… Vols got stunned early and never recovered on offense. Georgia D is legit.

You keep talking like Kirby backed off a game. THat's ludicrous. Every body on 4 continents knows Kirby just ain't that kind of gentleman. Ain't no way on God's Green Earth Kirby Smart backs off on UT. Not in this game, this year. The man ain't stupid. He's been around enough to know UT is no fluke, and they better come up with something. GA scored what UT gave up. UGA did not score what UT did not give up. The what-ifs are endless. We had enough mistakes in the passing game to have squeegied the water off hte field with GA's D if HH had played like HH. UGA was not totally unbeatable Saturday by any means. We can play situational what-if all day. Bottom line, you got what we gave up, and as good as Kirby planned for this game, UT missed a boat load a chances to change this game and most likely win it. At the end of the day it was still a UGA win and a UT loss.

Seriously? Did you not pay attention to what Kirby was doing?
After getting a lead he had them playing ball control and clock management against a weaker defense to keep a quick scoring offense off the field, because you never know if or when that offense could start clicking on all cylinders. Your defense may be great but mistakes or misreads leading to scores do happen over time to even the best.

The last thing Kirby wanted was the possibility that the game becomes a shootout if the Vols got in their groove and to avoid that you keep the other offense on the sidelines as long as possible. There was no way they were going to give our guys that many possession opportunities. It just wasn’t worth the risk for the dawgs.

Pride goeth before a fall. I seem to remember about a year ago, one SEC team throttled another in the SECCG; I feel safe in saying the fans of the team that did the throttling probably thought the same thing would happen if they played again. It didn't.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

We got their best and it was a 14 point game. Let’s do it again on a neutral sight. I was at the game. we played poorly. Dogs played well and had home field. They are beatable.
It’s amazing how many of our fans don’t recognize that UGA could have won by 21 easily, if they wanted to. There’s no shame in them being a much better team tight now. They should be.

Speculation is not admitted in court. But it's perfectly fine for 'fan'tasy...

I think that was their game plan. Long drives, good defense. Keep our offense off of the field. I doubt Kirby could’ve beaten us by 40 but chose not to because he felt sorry for us.

But you liked a post saying UGA would have scored 55 if they could. I’m not sure if you understand what speculation is. Cuts both ways.

Georgia is a better team and they are currently a better program, but All we have to do is be better for 60 minutes on January 9. That’s not hyperbolic at all. I think we get that chance.
