Georgia, etc. and Poaching

That ship has sailed and sunk out in the ocean somewhere to never be found. The haves are going to get stronger and the have nots are going to die off. The only possible solution I could see is limiting a school's total collective NIL money (similar to a salary cap). If they limited each school to... say $8 million, and one player got all of it, no player could have any. But that ain't ever gonna happen. It is an unlimited, bottomless bucket of money and boosters and donors will gladly contribute. I have never booed an 18 year old in my life, but Nico better ****ing produce from day 1. There are ZERO excuses for him to be average.

Think it through, brother. Nico and his family were on the cusp of NIL and saw an opportunity to provide a solid base for his future. Nothing wrong with that. Adults have been doing this in the CFB world since salaries went ridiculous 15 years ago or so. An 18-year-old making such a decision is completely understandable, and I am confident he is going to go out there and give it his all. If he gives his all, but is overrated and can't cut it? I'll never boo that. I never booed JG because I think the young man gave his all, he just wasn't talented enough, or coached well enough.

The system stinks, but that isn't Nico's fault, or any other player's fault.

Just my .02

There's no one to enforce any NIL rules. The NCAA is tired of losing lawsuits about player compensation and punted enforcement to the conferences. That doesn't work because it's not in the best interest of a conference to keep their teams from getting talent.

The reality is that if someone approaches me or you for an NIL deal, who can say I can't take it? Like that guy on the skateboard with the Fleetwood Mac song, if somebody wants to use his video or face or whatever and pays him, it's all good.

Why shouldn't a college athlete be able to do the same thing? Who should be able to control the money a kid makes from being who they are?

There's no way to control NIL legally.
Only one way. Collective bargaining agreements between the NCAA and players. With these CBAs, there is significant negotiation and control of financial incentives to players and what is/is not allowed.

Tell that to the UT fans that flooded Georgia boards likely wearing their starter jackets from the 90s prior to our game.
They would be included IMO. I read and post here only. No idea why I would go to a rival’s site. Even more, do not know why I would post on a rival’s site and expect a hospitable environment.

Which makes the players employees and professional athletes. See the many discussions here of why the NCAA and schools don't want to be in the professional sports business (even though they actually are.)

Sit out a year and no intraconference transfers. That would solve my issues with NIL

They will never be able to screw a cap tight enough. The smell has leaked out and it smells just like death. College football is over as we knew it.

How quickly you moved from Kirby's comment to his inability to coach to tossing shade at Georgia's championship, which i think is where your real problem with Kirby is. Dawgs won the title. You'll be happier when you accept it.

anytime I need a laugh at the dawgs expense, I just rewind the tape on that decision by "smart" to fake a punt on 4th and 10 at midfield

or...go back and watch a WR about as wide open as can be catch a 40+ yard TD pass from a true frosh. Um, isn't "smart" a defensive genius? And didn't he play DB and start out as a DB coach? But athat bammer WR had no one within 5 yards of him! How the HELL does that happen? OMG.

Lol, fair enough. I certainly can’t fault you for taking a little joy from the fake punt. It was an ill advised gamble and is certainly seen as a bone headed call considering the result. It’s really nothing new though, even the best coaches screw up sometimes. Smart, Heupel, even the great Saban has made some terrible in game decisions. And they will all likely do it again at some point.

You’re a Vols fan and you watch our biggest rival beat uga when you need to laugh at them. Why aren’t you watching Dobbs to Jennings instead? C’mon man, be better!

I don't go out of my way to watch them, but those highlights are continually shown, and though I hate that bammer won, I love that uga lost. That's the conundrum you face when two rivals play each other.

Oh yes…I know. My comments were solely on how to “control” payments, etc.

Was not intended to be a recommendation or comment towards the NCAA, schools and employment status of athletes.
