Georgia, etc. and Poaching

It works til it doesn’t. Saban is the best because he manages to get the best 85 man roster every year. Injury settlements, early graduations and GIT shirts to benchwarmers open up spots for better players.

Smart is accumulating talent likewise. Give the players 1-2 years to find a role and replace them with more established players. But they will also let good players leave who just need a change of scenery.

I wonder what good comes from a guy with the stature of Mack Brown tossing out half-baked allegations with zero evidence, or with evidence but too cowardly to name names. If he's bothered enough to make claims he ought to back it up. If it happened, call people out.

I'd say Mack Brown has one of the best track records in the country as a good man. Kirby is in the kiddy pool in that regard.

NIL should not be a recruiting tool. Maybe a rule where players can’t be contacted for NIL opportunities or have any conversation related to NIL until after their first game. Penalties should be stiff. I’m talking “We found email that your collective sent to a high schooler. Your program is getting the death penalty” type strict. That’s the level of severity needed to make it effective, imo.
Don’t send this to Nico.

Something has to be done to ensure NIL is used the way it was intended. Hendon and Hyatt’s NIL deals or Alontae’s Cookie Monster deal are perfect examples. Players create value and are able to capitalize.

Isn't the whole point of NIL that nobody can restrict another person's ability to capitalize on their own Name, Image and Likeness? You can't square that with arbitrarily restricting when somebody can start making money.

The landscape of college football is forever changing and not for the better. Georgia is going to need a lot more footballs and quarterbacks in order to make everyone happy.

They have recruited away (poached) Miss State's best receiver, Poached Missouri's best receiver, have multiple highly rated recruits coming in that are receivers.
Of course, they also tried to (poach) the North Carolina qb, apparently with an offer of 5M.

While they say that all is fair in love and war and while we are not directly affected, the imbalance created across NCAA football is pretty disturbing.
It is all about money, whoever has the most NIL money wins. Schools like Oklahoma and Miami are awful on the field but killing it in recruiting.
Why should schools like Miss State, Missouri, Vanderbilt even try to field a team if each year their best players are stolen or purchased away.

This seems to me to be all kinds of messed up. NIL and college football needs some sort of salary cap and some sort of rule limiting transfers.
(Note: I would not want to be in Georgia's receiving core room - knowing next year you might be replaced by a receiver from Baylor or somewhere else.)

Georgia and Miami seem to be throwing around the most money - Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A and M, Alabama

I am not offering up any answers or solutions, just observing how messed up this appears to be.

Don't pro leagues have some pretty stiff penalties for poaching? College sports will have to find a "like" way of handleing this problem. Here again drifting more toward a amateur professional sport environment.

Kirby Dumbass has always simply stole his way into everything. It's how he operates. It works great on the surface, but eventually simply throwing money at things will catch up to him. Nobody is getting good coaching, and many will not live up to the money they are being stuffed with. It's a house of cards with no foundation. They are just stupid georgian flowbees.

To chime in on this debate I have noticed Kirby has moved away from Moe 3 Stooges bowl cut hair. Although with his doo not much you can do he’s got an enormous round head just so much you can do,

At least his head doesn't look like you can burst boulders with it like Shane Beamer.

Yeah and he ran his ass outta town too. 41-0. Gonna be the same with hype.

Until our defense improves I won't disagree after the South Carolina debacle. If it does then I could see an even series. Georgia doesn't have juggernaut offenses.

its not collectives or coaches. Its players contacting players. they talk, during games, after games and try to recruit players. Ours do it and they are all doing it..
Wouldn't it s
Maybe Mack heard it directly from his QB?
If players are contacting players from other schools trying to encourage them to come over, how can we be sure the coach isn't aware of it? We are entering a dangerous time in collegiate athletics. There may be a legitimate need for Congress to get involved, and believe me, I don't encourage that very often.

No thanks. They've done enough. If there is anything more corrupt than college football right now it's congress. This ain't the 80's and 90's.

Coaches are probably encouraging their players to do it and pointing to the players on other teams they would like. Don't doubt that in the least.

I've heard from multiple media though that they hear players doing that on the field and the media is all over the field pre and post games.

Good point. It seems a lot of the money being dangled in recruits’ faces isn’t organically flowing from endorsements and the like. It’s the product of collectives or large donors doling out funds when the recruit in question has little to no cachet outside of the very small portion of fans who actively follow recruiting. And yes, I’m grateful for Sprye as long as that’s the paradigm, but I question if this is a healthy or just way for the system as a whole to operate.

If the shoe was on the other foot most of you would roll out the ole “deal with it” meme and not say another word about it.

No honor among thieves - I would hope that we would never stoop to stealing, coercing, hiring away someone's starting franchise quarterback while they are still happy and content playing where they were originally recruited.
I realize that certain teams and schools have the distinction of not letting a few rules or what most would consider honorable get in the way of their poaching process.

Congress being involved is likely the only way that this could get worse.

Feels good being the best program by far in the country. Kirby is going to win 4-5 National Championships so better get used to it. He’s a machine and LOL at anyone questioning his COACHING after he put 15 players in the NFL a year ago and has us two games from back-to-back titles.
