Georgia fans on Jancek and Martinez?

I hear you. Just hard to think they were prepared for the blitzer. No reason to get a fade pattern tipped. That means somebody was untouched.
It's worth finding that play on YouTube just to watch what the guy that batted the ball did. He couldn't have played it more perfectly if UGA had told him what was coming and given him 10 chances.

I understand what you're saying though. It's insane to think a Qb in the shotgun would ever get a fade batted at the LOS. But that's why they're Alabama.

I remember it. Problem is that the fade wasn't open anyway. Mitchell was covered and the throw wasn't even going to the back pylon. Mitchell, to me, wasn't sure of the route he was running. He was out of room at the goalline and blanketed and was still on the goalline as the other dude caught the deflected pass.

Martinez was actually a very good DB's coach under Van Gorder. He is a very good recruiter, has great connections in the state of FL and built great relationships in the state of GA. He was a pretty good DC, not great, but pretty good. He was the scapegoat of the 2008 season, and after 2009 Dawg fans had had enough.

Jancek is another story, nothing to say on that.

actually Martinez stunk up the joint in the end coaching dbs. when coach lakatos came in he had to change what our dbs had learned under Martinez who coached very poor technique (there was a great article on that) at the end of his stay in Athens. a big part of that is due to imo him being a dc and not putting the time into teaching his position as he should have been. Martinez is a good recruiter with south florida ties, but his db coaching hasn't shown much since he left Georgia.

regarding jancek he stinks. one of the worst coaches we have had in Athens.

Auburn fans do not seem to be fond of the jobs Thig and WM did last year either.

Again, Martinez was not great but he was pretty good.

The fans will get extra negative on a coach once he leaves for another job or gets fired.

"The new coaches have to do away with everything the players learned under the previous coaching staff and the new staff will make them better ballplayers."

I hear that all the time and all fanbases do that. Just recently we heard the same thing about Garner and the performance of the D-line.

I can't disagree with you on Jancek.

basically every coach that leaves UT is verbally abused in some form or fashion. From the NC HC to each position coach. Would be interesting to hear the names of coaches that weren't really badmouthed. Maybe Cutcliffe. That's about it.

Thats just not true. If you watch the play, it wasn't even an o-lineman that got beat. A LB blitzed off the edge and timed it perfectly. The RB stepped up to pick up the blitz and before he could even block him, the blitzer went vertical and got his hands up. Just a great individual effort.

yep the issue with the play was gurley. he did the wrong thing. gurley was supposed to step up and go after that blitzing lb at the LOS, but he didn't move up at all and he engaged him in our backfield at the 12 yard line. if gurley goes up to the LOS and takes on the blocker that ball is not tipped, but it was and that's all she wrote.

Like I keep saying, I don't think the protection mattered. Just a great play. Tough to expect a RB to go all the way to the LOS to engage a blitzer.
