Georgia made a big push in attempt to hire WR coach Kelsey Pope

We have been aggressive in the use of NIL, but that doesn't mean we broke the NCAA rules that were in place at the time.
Agreed! I think they’ve been aggressive and smart and have followed what explicit guidance existed. It’s what gives us the high ground here.

For the record, I think that goes both for VC and UT.

It’s foolish to ignore that actually following the written rules doesn’t matter. It matters a great deal when your opponent is trying to paint you as an unrepentant baddie.

Further, my understanding is that the NCAA is trying to retroactively apply NIL inducement restrictions that were put in place AFTER VC brought Nico to Knoxville and he committed here.

PLUS there was no employee of the University involved in those transactions that the NCAA later decided should be impermissible.

I think the Court’s fixing to hand them their hat. Just a matter of which court, how many, and in what order.

I agree with your agreements LOL. The University of Tennessee had no hand in that ordeal. From my understanding, it's all pertaining to a flight Nico took on a private jet that belongs to Spyre Sports, or one of its affiliates, which happened in 2023 after he was already an employee of Spyre Sports (Which is perfectly legal). The NCAA has no leg to stand on and they're fixing to get skull drug, IMO!

She's a trouble maker because she does her job? 🤡
It sure isn't her job to run her mouth to the point random VN posters know about it. That said, I suspect she did nothing of the sort and this whole narrative is standard fare message board fanfic.

Sounds like she is a responsible person and you are not according to your post.

Maybe that random poster happens to know her. Why talk trash about a person you know nothing about or don't know if the poster is just straight up lying?

I'm inherently suspicious of claims that someone got fired for simply "doing their job", especially a relatively high paying state job, when there is no resulting litigation to monetize such a rock solid case such person would have. There's more to the story, if it's remotely true, which again, I doubt. It sounds like fanfic to me.

He wants to get a better understanding of Heupel's offensive concepts. Pope would have been there a year and let go. Kirby knows that heat is coming for him in Neyland.
This is ignorant. Pope is a very good coach and fast becoming one of the best recruiters on staff. Georgia sees the progress he’s making with kids on the recruiting trail.

I’m amazed by the theories people come up with on here.

Yeah, by all accounts he seems to like where he’s at, and promoting from within tends to pay dividends with loyalty

I agree with you. I don’t know much about Pope, but if Kirby tried to lure him away he must be a very good coach and definitely a very good recruiter. Kirby certainly isn’t hiring for any inside knowledge of the TN offense, I believe he wanted Pope to better GA’s position and outlook at WR.

I do think that Pope staying at TN is a good sign for the Vols. It makes sense, WRs do well in CJH’s offense and I’m sure will continue to do very well. Having Nico helps set a very promising stage for the position as well.

When top-end programs want our assistant coaches, that says a lot about how elite a staff Josh Heupel has built.

When the assistant coaches refuse to be bought out, that says even more about our future.

Go Vols!
It definitely seems like Heupel has turned the culture around. I'm very excited for the future!

I have said nothing untrue. I prefer to attack our rivals with things not easily refuted. I also get annoyed with the DA's who still try to act like Smart isn't a good coach, when that was obvious years ago.
Good recruiter. He can't win without having better players than everyone else. Fact.
