Georgia OC

Curious that he's had 9 different stops in the past 20 years, but on the surface it seems like a solid hire by UGA. He's not going to transform a program like Brady did though... if he were that good I think he would have received an opportunity like this before he reached his 50s. This is the first championship contending program to give him the reins.
Exactly. He’s a hired gun and won’t be at LSU long, if successful.
Imo it is a good hire though.
GBO!

Clearly the uga fans can tolerate no negative comments about their newest bestesthireeverinthehistoryofhires, and, as usual, need some affirmation from opposing fans. I don't get it, but it's what they seem to crave.

So here ya go:

Here's a cookie.

Door is that way........

Here is the standard uga fan reaction to news like this. It's all one word for emphasis:

That is funny right there!

“Just implementing Sean Payton’s offense from the Saints”

You say that as if any average joe is qualified and able to do such a thing. I never said the guy was a genius, but there’s tremendous value in being able to install a proven system. Monken’s system hasn’t proven anything yet.

Considering Brady wasn’t even calling plays at LSU, it certainly wasn’t a compliment for either.

So you're not impressed with Joe Brady or Todd Monken. Noted. Not trying to stir anything up here but just curious... are you one of the people who don't like Jim Chaney as OC?

Damn I thought I was reading a transcript of an Coach Orgeron press conference!

Most of y'all are giving Brady way too much credit. Is he a great coach? Probably, but he was just implementing Sean Peyton's offense from the Saints. As far as Todd Monken goes, his greatest years came at Oklahoma State unfortunately for UGA fans it had little to do with Todd Monken and more to do with Mike Gundy. Oklahoma State's offense ranked in the top 20 in total offense 11 out of his 14 seasons at OSU. It is his offense and has been since he got there. He may be a great coach but outside of his years at OSU he doesn't have much to show. I wouldn't pop the champagne just yet in Athens. There is a reason coaches go to Cleveland and it isn't because they are good
I’d say he will be a big improvement over their last OC. That is if the QB is pretty good and their off. Line and wide receivers are at least good.

SMH, Some of those are rated based on bars and restaurants.....

Not defending UGA, but the campus is nice - rest of Clarke County is meh. What's crazy is two of the poorest cities in the US are college campus towns - Athens and Manhattan, KS. I guess what that means is graduates obviously don't stick around. Lots of people on SNAP...
Where are you seeing Athens, GA as one of the poorest cities in America? Don't think I've ever seen it on a list.

And yet the offensive “genius” that is Todd Monken parleyed that great success at TB into a non-coordinator role under a first year head coach? He did call plays for Cleveland regardless of what UGA fans claim and they were atrocious. The Dallas Cowboys led the league in total offense this year. Is Jason Garret an offensive genius? The year before Monken arrived at OSU they were third in total offense. Tampa Bay also led the league in passing this season without him. He was 13-26 at USM. They are 28-21 since he left. He has gone from being an OC for Tampa to “not calling” plays at Cleveland to a college OC position; hardly the career trajectory of an offensive genius but there is no doubt Jameis can rack up some useless stats in the 4th quarter.

May be , who knows ! Amazing turnarounds happen, look at Orgeron !!

People keep saying this about LSU and Orgeron, but it’s not like they have been bottom dwellers for years in the SEC West. It’s also not like they came out of nowhere this year either. They were ranked #6 in the preseason AP poll.

The major difference this year is they snapped their 6 game losing streak to Bama. Had they not done this, Bama would have won the West.

Three offensive coordinators in three years with a transfer Qb should go swimmingly. I mean what could go wrong? Baker Mayfield certainly improved this year and the entire staff was fired in Tampa along with Cleveland.

This a fantastic hire for uga. Monken tore it up at Okstate with top 5 offenses in the country. Great hire for them. Sucks ass for us

Quite the contrary, never said I wasn’t impressed with Joe Brady just that he really hasn’t proven anything. Steve Ensminger was and still is the OC at LSU. That team was loaded with talent and he has never been an OC. Monken’s greatest years came under Mike Grundy and they had a top five offense the year before he arrived, pretty obvious who was responsible for that offensive success. NFL regular season stats are extremely misleading, the Cowboys led the league in offense this season but couldn’t move the ball against a decent defense; Tampa was the same way. Jim Chaney is a very good coach who has proven it over a sustained period of time at multiple schools where he controlled the offense. Monken runs an air raid offense, hardly the strength of a running qb in a completely different offense on a new team that is built to run ball.

Not unless kirby changes. Maybe he has seen the light about run and ball control offense outdated in todays college football.
Well, it look like the Titans are getting it done in the NFL with an outdated college offense. There is no such thing as an outdated offense, its all about matching scheme with personnel. There is no new thing under the sun, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
