I don’t see it. If both UGA and FSU lose that opens up 2 spots and those spots would be filled by Texas, assuming they win, and Bama. If FSU wins and Bama upsets UGA I think the SEC is screwed. Texas still has the best win with the drubbing at Bama and they would get the nod over Bama while Bama would get the nod over UGA. To me there’s almost zero chance the SEC gets 2 in. The only way would be if Bama wins, FSU loses and then Texas or Michigan also loses. Not going to be a popular thought here, but I think it is entirely possible that if FSU loses today and Bama wins, both UGA and Bama are in the playoffs.
1) For Bama to get in, a slot has to open up. An FSU loss would do that.
2) 12-1 UGA would not drop behind 11-1 OSU nor 12-1 Texas. Committee would not defeat UGA's 3-peat attempt with a vote.
3) 12-1 SEC Champion Bama jumps OSU.
4) 12-1 SEC Champion Bama nudges out Texas because of beating UGA.
Bama is the #4 seed, UGA either #2 or #3. And Michigan/Washington get to have fun with UGA and Alabama after 30 days of prep time.
Wash, rinse, repeat on 2021.
I don't think UGA falls out with a loss. They have been the acknowledged #1 team all season except for two weeks by the CFP committee.I don’t see it. Everyone saying UGA is out with a loss is ignoring the CFP's stated goal of putting in the best four teams. I do not believe UGA will fall out of the top four and would get in before a 12-1 Texas and 12-1 Alabama even if FSU wins, falling no lower than #3 or #4. I think FSU could even fall out with a win if it is a close one letting Texas or Alabama in. The question that will be asked in that room is what teams would favored over a 12-1 UGA and if the answer is none, they're in. They are not going to stop the 3peat attempt with a vote if they think UGA would be favored over any of the other four teams who would be "deserving."
I think it depends. Washington is in, Michigan is going to win, and if FSU wins, there's no way they leave out a power 5 conference champion. That only leaves 1 spot. You'll likely have bama and Texas as 1 loss conference champions. There's no way they jump both to put Georgia in, and Texas should get the spot over bama. I know everyone thinks they'll leave FSU out because their QB situation, but here's a hypothetical. What if Georgia is going to win, and Beck goes down in the last few minutes. Wouldn't they have to leave Georgia out then also? It's only fair if that's why they'd leave out an undefeated FSU. And it doesn't matter if they're defending champions, last year has nothing to do with now. If Georgia loses, I'm in the minority, but I'd bet they're out, and they should be.If Bama wins the SEC title game Georgia will still get in and we will have a situation like in 2021 with them meeting again in the national title game
Be hard for the committee to leave them out though they are the two time defending champions and have won 29 straight games would be a decisive favorite over Washington, Michigan and FSU and Texas. Greg Sankey will push very hard to get them and Bama in if Bama beats Georgia. And if FSU, Michigan and Texas win today ... and Bama beats UGA and somehow an SEC team (or two) ends up in the top 4, the committee is a joke as they are not strong enough to say "SEC is out this year" because there would be 3 undefeated conference champs and another conference champ that beat the SEC conference champ. That would have 4 conference champions in the playoff with the tiebreaker to the conference that beat the other conference.
If UGA cannot beat Bama, they do not deserve to be playing for the title.
I agree I think win or lose today Georgia is a lock to get in the playoff.I don't think UGA falls out with a loss. They have been the acknowledged #1 team all season except for two weeks by the CFP committee.

Yea it blows I really kinda hate championship weekend cause we are never part of it anymore and our hated rivals are and sadly I don’t see that changing anytime. I was still in my 20’s the last time we were in Atlanta on the first Saturday in December. It's amazing some of you all answer this with positive feelings towards one team. Like, it's really not a great thing that another one of our rivals has a dynasty during our drought.
You’re saying UGA stays in front of Bama even if Bama beats them? Yeah that’s not happening. UGA will win anyway so it won’t matter but if Bama beats UGA then UGA is absolutely out without 2 of the other favorites losing. Why even play the championship game if you’re going to ignore the result? And then you go to Bama and Texas. If Bama lost a very close game at Texas maybe you could make a case for taking them over Texas but Texas whipped Bama at Bama. That can’t be ignored. If Bama does pull the upset they need either Texas to lose or FSU to lose, assuming Michigan won’t lose. You can’t drop an undefeated FSU out, even with their QB issues. Look at Ohio State in 2014. They actually wouldn’t have won that title without their QBs getting hurt. JT Barrett wasn’t leading them anywhere. Cardale Jones came in and they lit it up. Also, had we beaten USC last year would you have been fine if the committee left us out due to Hooker’s injury? Of course not!I don't think UGA falls out with a loss. They have been the acknowledged #1 team all season except for two weeks by the CFP committee.

Keep in mind UGA’s strength of schedule is the worst of all these teams we’re talking about at 61st in the country. The only team even close to them is FSU but FSU would be undefeated and a conference champ while UGA would have a loss and no championship should they lose and FSU win. While I get what you’re saying with the 4 best teams, the committee has proven over the years they define the 4 best teams by the 4 most deserving teams. They don’t say who would be favored over who.I don't think UGA falls out with a loss. They have been the acknowledged #1 team all season except for two weeks by the CFP committee.

Shouldn't matter - the place in the 4 should be earned by winning a championship. UGA must beat Bama to be assured of a place in the playoffs. If they lose then it will all be a factor of who the other conference champs are and their record.Be hard for the committee to leave them out though they are the two time defending champions and have won 29 straight games would be a decisive favorite over Washington, Michigan and FSU and Texas. Texas seems to be opening a can on OSU. No way that Bama can jump them. Washington won last night so there are only 3 spots left. If Michigan wins, they are in. Down to 2. If FSU wins, the number is down to 1. If Bama beats Georgia, then Texas takes the last spot. Not going to be a popular thought here, but I think it is entirely possible that if FSU loses today and Bama wins, both UGA and Bama are in the playoffs.
