Get Behind Coach Heupel

No mechanically, friend. No need to explain the graphic mechanically. It is pretty self-explanatory to most folks, I think.

Was talking about explaining how the guy on the left has that arc in his two years with UCF, then crashes and burns at Nebraska. Meanwhile, the guy on the right has a different arc at UCF, but then starts lighting things up at Tennessee.

Explain that, and you'll accomplish something.

I listened to a sports show out of Nebraska. The reason, they said, for Scott Frost failing so miserably was the same as TN. The administrators had taken over the athletic department and the in-fighting was rediculous. Listening to that show was like listening to what happed to us on our long road to the CFB graveyard for several years.

Yes we have trolls within the ranks. @Rickyvol77
So holding one to their words is trolling?

I think its childish to want to prove how he was right and all these others were wrong but is that what defines a troll? 🤷‍♂️

Personally i was underwhelmed with the hire and only got on board after hearing a few practice reports. But honestly in February of this year looking back over a 7-6 season where we lost every close game except Kentucky, i was more than a little worried about the hire.

CJH has put to bed worries about the ability to win close games.

Now im trying to design a CJH tattoo🤓.

I'm not going to give anyone grief over this, either.

I mean, who knows how to read this:

It's a head-scratcher.

I only know one thing: since none of us are deities, since none of us can fully explain that, we should all show a little more humility when changes come. We simply don't know what we're talking about, most of the time.

Go Vols!
You realize that the Covid year by itself was not a good indicator for a lot of coaches and programs.

More childish than a lot of the comments that were made?

Absolutely. I'm one of the folks who drum that the hardest when folks bring it up (either concerning Heupel's '20 season at UCF, or even Pruitt's '20 debacle in Knoxville). It's not a fair comparison, that season with any other year. Just isn't.

That alone doesn't explain the vast difference in those two men's fortunes since leaving UCF. It's a head scratcher to all.

I have an easier time explaining Heupel's success than Frost's failure.

Since we've "gotten to know" Heupel, his success isn't confusing. He's a very good leader and that has translated into a very good culture. He has the resources to hire coaches who fit his mold. His coaching ability can't be dismissed... but I don't think that's the "key". He has developed guys at an elite level... but that would have never happened if he had not been able to get not just a willing commitment... but an EAGER commitment to his plan. It has been amazing to watch.

I'm not sure about Frost. You would have thought he was the perfect fit but I've read things saying players absolutely hated him and didn't even trust his coaching. There was apparently never real unity on the staff. He also appeared to have made some really bad choices in who played/started.

Thread wasn't about being skeptical of the hire. It was about supporting the Coach (& indirectly the team) by getting behind CJH even if he wasn't a guy you wanted.

I posted the original quote again because I figured someone(s) would try and pull your stunt.

You can question whether he can get the job done but fact of the matter he is willing to give it a go. If your going to be critical of anyone be critical of those that didn’t have confidence in themselves that they could turn this thing around. Get behind this guy and remember a lack of early success doesn’t fall on him but does on the previous administration and coaching staff. Welcome to Rocky Top CJH!

Your logical fallacy is strawman

Valid point

But still childish IMO.

I suppose i wonder what was gained by bumping that thread? Making others feel foolish? Proving he was "right"?

People with strong opinions make the world a better place. Even if we are wrong sometimes. And being afraid of being wrong is not something we should aspire to see in others unless their decisions/prognostications have others lives in their hands.

It’s funny when these old threads get bumped.
Some of us admitted we were wrong a year ago. I’m glad the bumper is finally seeing the light

A little message board humility aint such a bad thing.

The ability to laugh at yourself is an admirable trait to learn.

My problem has never been with those with differing opinions or have a “wait and see” attitude. That’s how I was. But the ones who “woe is me we hired a loser” and “we have no shot of ever winning anything” always look so dumb

Go and check my words for the last 18 months. You will see that my opinion was changing even before Heupel coached his first game.
