Get your daughter in line...

So if one is against the government making this decision, would that mean that the same person is against the government sticking their noses into the subject of abortion?

Nope. Legislation is fine for murder.

the difference is that smoking is a choice, getting hpv isn't. i don't see the difference between this and getting MMRs

Engaging in an activity that leads to a higher chance of getting this type of cancer, is a choice.

Still, nothing about this is worthy of some government body forcing it on people.

well, promiscuity(sp) certainly increases the chances, but one could get hpv from many things other than sex.

I'm just curious. They're both saving lives right? I don't see how one could be against the government controlling one aspect of life and for it controlling another.

Well one could get lung cancer even if they don't smoke.

Again I say, there is no good argument for forcing this on people.

I found this:

Can HPV be passed in any other way?

* There is no evidence that contaminated toilet seats, doorknobs, towels, soaps, swimming pools or hot tubs, can transmit HPV. However, some unexplained cases of HPV lesions do occur and one should never rule out the possibility that an HPV infection may have been caught in a non-sexual event.
* HPV types that cause hand and common warts generally do not cause warts in the genital area. The exception is the rare occurrence of warts in the genital area in young children that are due to these "non-genital" HPV types. Likewise, genital HPV types are only very rarely found in lesions outside the genital area. For instance, HPV 31 lesions have been described in the conjunctiva and subungal areas. Therefore, autoinoculation of HPV from one area to another does not occur except in the rarest of circumstances.
* Whether one can increase the risk of infecting the cervix by autoinoculation from external warts, or vice versa, is not known, but most individuals who have HPV lesions in one area of the lower genital tract probably already have HPV in other genital tract areas. Therefore, one should not be concerned about "spreading" HPV from one area to another.

because legislating morality is fine, as long as it is pat robertson approved

One, outlawing abortion prevents direct harm from a defenseless soul.

Two, a person is free to get these shots if they want to. There is no one preventing someone from getting it. Mandating it is another matter. The government not forcing it on people is not directly killing anyone.

The governemnt allowing abortion to be legal, does directly kill people.

It can be passed from skin to skin. That sounds a little contagious to me..

Skin to skin from sexual contact. It's not contagious like measles or mumps.

I found this:

there are something like 130 different forms of HPV, not all of them sexually transmitted. it is also entirely possible for men to be carriers and have no idea (a girl i was recently involved with enlightened me to this tidbit of info, no i don't have it but someone she had been with did) so, further question, should everyone be required to have STD screens after becoming sexually active? It would certainly help stop the spread.

Legislating the prevention of murdering an unborn child is truly not even close to legislating the requiring of someone to take a shot. If you can't see this I am sorry.

Hell no. Talk about invasion of privacy.

Again, using this logic:

ban smoking
ban swimming pools
ban motorcycles
etc
etc

these will all prevent deaths.

no matter how touchy the subject, it is still a matter of opinion. while i will say that i find abortion as just another form of birth control dispicable, i believe that there are times when it is acceptable. if that makes me a bad person, i'm sorry

okay, fine then, let them fend for themselves, although completely innocent and responsible people contract hpv on a fairly consistant basis.

I am not denying anyone from getting this shot. They are free to have it. Forcing it on people is another story.

Yes but these people have freedom of choice. The baby does not get that choice.
Still, preventing death is preventing death, doesn't matter what kind of death it is. Cigarette companies commit murder every day. How can you say that one life is more important than the other? I would venture to even say that a young woman's life is more important than unborn babies life considering everything.
