Get your daughter in line...

I am not denying anyone from getting this shot. They are free to have it. Forcing it on people is another story.
The government forcing anything on people is wrong, hence my point about abortion. It's a choice that the person should be able to make.

oh that's fine, i'm giving you my side. i think that once it is proven safe it should be required. i feel the same way should there ever be an HIV vaccine, it's not a bad thing, and i don't feel that it is in any way an intrusion on privacy. i guess you feel much the same way about this issue as i do about the patriot act

Still, preventing death is preventing death, doesn't matter what kind of death it is. Cigarette companies commit murder every day. How can you say that one life is more important than the other? I would venture to even say that a young woman's life is more important than unborn babies life considering everything.

Smoking is hazardous, but people have a choice. A definite choice. Again, the baby has NO choice. How is one life more important than another? And again, the young lady has many choices. Avoid sex, save up her money get the shot and have all the sex the wants. All choices. Baby NO choice in the matter. The reason it deserves legislative protection.

If you believe the bold part then you agree with what I said earlier?

Ban swimming pools
Ban motorcycles
Ban practicing football in August
etc
etc
these would all prevent deaths.

Maybe the government should just ban sex and we can avoid all of this in the future.

There are other types of HPV but unless I am reading that wrong those don't cause cancer. It seems that the research suggests that only the sexually transmitted strains do.

Is that the way you guys understand it?

it is, i am more or less trying to get the point across that there are more benefits to the shot than just preventing cancer.

I'm not talking about the choice of the baby, I'm talking about the choice of the woman carrying it. The baby can get a say so when it's out in the world and able to object to it, until then, it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

If you're against the government making choices for you and invading your privacy, you should either be all in, or all out. You can't ride the fence..

What are the benefits? I am trying to fully understand.

Most people against this shot are people who are in denial and think that this will open the Pandora's box to all things sexual. It's kind of the argument about teaching kids about safe sex...

And yes, I agree with you that they shouldn't tell people what they can and cannot do.

upon further study, i have discovered that the types of HPV for which the shot is designed are all sexually transmitted.

Way too early to say that. The courts are full of and many advocacy groups are formed on the ideas of drugs that supposedly fixed one thing and caused something else. The drug companies rush these things through the best they can. They need to make a profit. If they can get it approved in 12 years instead of 14, they shoot for 12. I am skeptical about this not only because it is an intrusion by the government, but I am also skeptical about what goes into my body.

So it is ok for a one day old baby to be killed by it's parents? He can't object to it.

If so, then I don't see how this should be a mandatory vaccination unless it's contagious in the general public.

again, and one point that i tried to make, is that it can be carried without the knowledge of the carrier. so again, i think that the hpv vaccine, along with any future vaccine for herpes, HIV, etc. should be mandatory. sexual health is a real issue. while i do understand that there are those that make this into more or less a moral issue, i don't necessarily understand why.
