Ghostbusters 3/Reboot

Uh oh....IGN must be sexist.

‘Ghostbusters’ (2016) Movie Review

Ghostbusters. Also known commonly on the internet as “The Female Ghostbusters Reboot” has seen its fair share of criticism, hatred, and controversy. The controversy surrounding this project has become even bigger than the film itself with a lot of it being rational and a lot of it also being irrational. With this in mind I decided to go into this film with an open mind and put aside these things so that I can look at this film as fairly as possible.

So how does it stack up? Is it as bad as everyone expected it to be? The simple answer is absolutely.

Sitting at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics. Will probably be entertaining to anybody who goes in to the movie with an open mind, and not just going so that they can throw rotten vegetables at the projector screen.

Only 50 reviews in. I say it drops to around 55-60% when all is said and done. There will definitely be critics who are afraid to not like it because they don't want to be labeled as sexist.

The sad part is many internet haters are STILL going to go give their money to this which will make give it a solid opening weekend.

50 or 60 still isn't that bad. Wouldn't be near as bad as all the negative publicity would suggest. From listening to people ***** and moan about this movie, you would think this would be at 10% or less. If it comes in above 50% when the dust settles, I'll give it a shot.

You can say that about any movie.

There are valid reasons why people think the movie looks like crap, and I agree with burnt, there will be people that give it a good review because they are scared to be called sexist. And yeah there's probably been an overload of complaining, but a good part of that was backlash against commentators labeling all the bad reviews "sexism".

The trailers like like pure garbage so I can't bring myself to spend money to see it. The only upside to all this is that Ecto Cooler has been brought back

Previewed it last night.

Overall, not quite as bad as a lot of people were expecting, but still a very solid "meh." The 4 leads just didn't do it for me. Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon seemed to be trying too hard to be hilarious/goofy every second they were on screen. Every now and again, the 4 of them would get a laugh out of me, but there were so many more moments that the comedy fell flat on its face. At the same time, to their credit, the chemistry between them was still pretty good, and often it was mainly the mediocre script that was more the problem than the actresses themselves.

Chris Hemsworth on the other hand, stole the show for me. He was gut-bustingly hilarious. The special effects and ghosts were also quite well done too. In the end, I was never all that bored either, so for some mindless summer entertainment for the average moviegoer, it'll work alright. though personally, you're probably just as better off waiting for it to come to redbox.

Grade: C

It funny to read the reviews. The ones that give is a positive review make sure to point out all the "sexism" against the movie, and the ones that don't actually talk about why it's not very good. I won't say all the positive reviews are just for backlash against the backlash, but quite a few are pretty obvious that they fit that description.

We all give Cagle a hard time about his Deadpool prediction but he did say this would get decent critic reviews and poor audience scores. He was spot on here. Give the man his due.

Just got back from seeing this with my kids. Its really not as bad as a lot of the stuff i read prior to its release. The effects were cool, some of the humor made me chuckle and some not so much. Overall though it was a fun movie. Id rate it like 6/10.

Reports have begun spreading across Twitter that the opening of the new Ghostbusters reboot has opened to empty theaters across the country.

Ghostbusters Opens To Empty Theaters - Breitbart

Not really sure where they're getting that info it opened up with about 46 million domestically and about 65 million internationally. That's McCarthy's biggest opening of her career and solid for based on the film's budget

Actually it only made 19 Million Internationally and a total of around 65 Worldwide Total. Its already been confirmed that it won't be getting a release in China so that will hurt.

It will probably make its budget but I doubt it will crack the top 25 films for the year.

It finished 2nd this week and I'm betting it drops to 4th next week with ST: Beyond & Ice Age: Collision Course releasing.

My predictions for next weekend are...

Star Trek Beyond
Ice Age: Collision Course
Secret Life of Pets
Ghostbusters

I wouldn't be surprised to see "Pets" beat Ice Age.

Hollywood has zero imagination anymore.

When it comes to big budget blockbusters, this is true. It's not true when you consider all the movies that are made. Stop watching POS blockbusters.

They aren't likely to invest $144M in a movie with unproven interest. Start watching movies that are made on $20M budgets.

This. If you want original movies, you're going to have to start watching more indie movies and definitely stop watching most blockbusters. Your average blockbuster is pretty much the same movie over and over.
