Ghosts..... Have you ever seen them?

Couple of years ago I had an interview at a local court house. Not really important to the story, but the court house was burned down in the Civil War by Union troops and rebuilt a few years later. Anyway, the interview was to take place at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon. The court house was closed and everyone but the judge interviewing me was gone by that point. The judge arranged for someone to let me in the door; however, that person forgot and went home at 5:00. I stood outside the front of the court house thinking that the judge would eventually come to the second floor window and see me standing outside and let me in the court house. I waited for about twenty minutes until he finally did. While I was waiting outside before the judge saw me, I saw what appeared to be a boy around ten years old or so walk to the end of the hallway and walk into a bathroom (second floor window, I was looking up, so could only see him walk for what appeared to be about ten feet). I didn't think this was strange because the judge has a child about that age and I assumed he was there after hours with his dad. I waited for the boy to walk out of the bathroom thinking he might see me and tell his dad that someone was outside. Ten minutes later the judge walked to the end of the same hall, saw me, and let me inside. I never saw the boy leave the bathroom. After the interview I asked him how his son was doing and mentioned that I thought I saw him earlier. The judge said he wasn't there in the court house and went on to say that there was no one else in the court house. I didn't think about it much after that until a few months later in October when I decided to do a ghost walk tour of the town. On the tour, our guide stopped in front of the court house and proceeded to tell the group about a young boy who was arrested not long after the Civil War for stealing a horse. Apparently the kid was a notorious thief and didn't have much of a family. The magistrate and judge at that time were afraid to lock him up at the town jail because of his age and decided to keep him in the basement of the court house for a few days while awaiting his trial. Apparently he died in what is now the evidence room of the court house. The tour guide told us that current workers in the court house always complain about things going missing in that area and some workers have mentioned seeing a young boy's ghostly figure in the court house. I've never been a big believer in ghosts, but thought that was an interesting occurrence.

That's definitely an odd occurence. Are there any stories on the internet about that?

The only truly odd thing involving a supernatural-like occurrence happened to me last Christmas Eve. My family (cousins, uncles, etc.) all get together every Christmas Eve so there's always a lot of people there and every now and then a few people I don't recognize. So anyways my family and I walked through the front door and there was an elderly woman in a dress with flowers on it sitting between two of my other family members on the couch. She almost resembled my great grandmother that had passed on a few years earlier. So I walked into another spot in the room to put my coat up and when i turned around she wasnt there anymore. That kind of freaked me out so I just walked away and assumed my grandma had invited a friend over and she had decided to leave. Well as the night went on I forgot about it and didnt think to ask anybody who it was. After we finally left (when I say "we" I'm referring to my mom, dad, brother, sister and myself) I remembered about the elderly woman that had been sitting there when we walked in, and if anyone else had seen her. My mom, brother and sister all said yes while my father insisted nobody was there. So he eventually called a few of our family members that were there just to prove us wrong, and they agreed with him. They all said the only older woman that was there was my grandmother, nobody else.

If I, myself had only seen her I would have my doubts. But since my mother, brother and sister had all seen her as well I often wonder if it was an angel or something.

I've often wanted to see an apparition. Just to see one. Though I'm not sure how I would react to it.

It would completely depend on the apparition to me. If it was one of my family members, I don't know how I would react. If it was someone I didn't know, then I would look at it as long as I could to be able to get an appearance, although I doubt it would last more than a split-second.

Did any of your other family members recognize her?

Me and my brother agreed that it looked exactly like my great grandmother. My sister and mother said it resembled her a little as well.

It was funny because my cousin and uncle were on either side of the woman and were leaning over talking to each other like she wasn't there. Now I know why. It was Definitely one of the weirdest things to happen in my life so far.

I saw one when I was a kid, but I've dismissed it as an adult. I just can't logically get behind the idea of someone who is dead coming back. I mean...they're dead.

Do y'all happen to get together every Christmas Eve at the same spot? And this is definitely not a surprising situation.

Yes, my freshman year at UT in the dorm. Former student that had died. Cool and freaky all at once :)

When I was a young kid, we all teased a boy because he had an imaginary friend named Owen Lewin. He would always talk to him when we were in the woods, or in each other's homes, etc. They would talk about World War 1 battles. Anyways, that kid moved away and a few years later, when a new family moved in, their kid started talking about his new friend, Owen. We were in his basement once, and we found a 1930's kid watch with the initials O.L. inscribed in it.

That is awesome.

I was spending the night at a friend's house who lived near Lake Winnie (an amusement park) when I was 15 or so. About 2 a.m., we woke up to screams from the park. (the park was closed) So we snuck out the window, noticed that none of the lights were on in the park, except for the wooden roller coaster. No cars in the parking lot. We walked through the dark park thinking that some people were having a special party. We got close to the wooden roller coaster and heard the chains taking it up the lift, the people having a good time, then it roars down its hills and we hear all the screams and laughter…then it comes rolling back into the station…….the safety bars lift….NO ONE ON IT!! EMPTY!! And engineer asks us what we're doing there while they're testing rides. Says "park's closed"…..so we figure we were hearing things, walk back through the whole park, that was dark, notice that the cable cars above us, that take you from one end to the other, were moving, look up, and see a freaking clown, just staring at us…..

Overactive imaginations and misinterpretations of non supernatural imo. When you're dead, you're dead...how ya gonna go around being ghost? Ain't nobody got time for that

A whole whole whole whole whole bunch of coincidences = science's way of explaining everything they refuse to admit they don't have an explanation for.

Seems legit.

There's been so many coincidences, including my own, for me to say that there is no such thing as the paranormal.
