If you look on google maps if your on Old Snows Hill locate New Frontiers. You would head towards Hunt Hollow Rd. There is a small trail near New Frontiers that the kids from there have made I guess. It's not really a cemetery I guess, just gravesites. The only place I have been able to find any info online about it is from a book called The History of DeKalb County. It talks about it and explains it a little, but not much information really. It also talks about a skeleton they found in a hollow tree in the area.
Just took the back way home to see where it was located. I passed new frontiers so I know where the location is. I didn't see any kind of trail because I just stayed on old snows hill. Do you actually have to go down the road new frontiers is on and the trail is on your left?
Id bet that dirt trail connects to the one I am talking about. The one im talking about is not very far from the road New Frontiers is on.Yes where the sharp curve is that road that comes out of the curve is new frontiers. If you take that road there is a dirt trail into the woods on the left side from what I can tell.
If you're coming from Dowelltown on Old Snows Hill Rd. the little path I took would be on the right side of the road past New Frontiers. As far as distance goes it would be within a mile. That is as precise as I can get as far as distance goes though.Oh. When I saw satellites photos I saw a little dirt trail down in front of new frontiers and it looked like it lead into a tiny clearing. I know the area. If you are coming from dowelltown and heading toward smithville on old snows hill. Where would it be in terms of new frontiers? Before or after you pass the road and just a guess of how far before or after?

Yeah look for a path that goes in between New Frontiers and Hunts Hollow Rd. It is a heavily wooded area, the graves sit atop a ridge. They are not located in a clearing. It appeared at one time the area had been cleared out, but it has grown back up.That helps a lot. Atleast now I have a general location.
No I wasn't aware of anything indian related the first night I visited. I left confused, and still not sure what is linked to those gravesites. After some researching and reading I have found something interesting. You're right, it's very hard to find info on. Of course there was the battle of snows hill in the civil war, but what intrigues me is this piece of info I just came across.
You said you were puzzled at why you heard Indian call sounds. I just read dry creek (the area it is right next to) had a native Indian tribe and there are Indian grave sites scattered close to dry creek. That's awesome assuming you didn't know that at the time you heard the sounds.
Nice find, I never new that cave was linked to indian ceremonies. I have never visited the cave. I know where its general location is though. It is on private property and was always told the land owners had blocked off the entrance to it.Apparently there is also a large cave where Indian ceremonies were held with a mile if the battle as well.
Ruminations of a Tarnished Jewel: Indian Grave Point Cave
The question is when did this Indian tribe live in these parts? If they still lived here when the first settlers of DeKalb County showed up, then you would have to think trading amongst them went on. If that is the case, and they are in fact indian graves, then that would explain the attire the apparitions were wearing. With all this information along with what you heard, I am wondering if it's Indian graves. Your description for what you saw goes more along with civil war guys, though. Interesting none the less. I'll have to talk to some people and just atleast see it. I'm intrigued.
