I've always believed in them. I have heard knocks and footsteps in my house before, but who knows?
I've lived in the same house all my life. For at least 10 years I can remember hearing noises in my house. Like you said...footsteps and commotion you can just sense. A lot of times I am so convinced that it is someone moving around in my house I run out of my room and downstairs to see who's there....I've never caught anyone in my house. I'm not saying it is a ghost but I can't for the life of me figure out what is making the "footsteps". I'm 20 years old and I can honestly say sometimes home alone at night can be a little scary. I know in my head that any fear like that is pretty much irrational but I can't convince myself of that when I think I hear a noise like that.
Its funny I see this topic up again. For some reason in the past couple of weeks things at my house have really started getting strange.
Toys keep going off with no one around - and I tend to try and dismiss this as just needing batteries or whatever.
Footsteps being heard through the house at all hours of the day or night. It keeps sounding like someone is walking up and down the steps quite often.
The biggest and freakiest things have happened in the past two days though.
Two nights ago my wife walked into the bedroom and said I keep hearing something that sounds like someone is walking in and out of the bedroom. She asked me if I had heard that and I said no. I was laying in bed watching television and all of a sudden about 5 minutes later the light switched on by itself. Now, the lightswitch was in the on position already as I have a ceiling fan/light combo. The ceiling fan was on so the light was already in the up position. I heard the clicking as the cord was "yanked" and the light came on. I flew out of there like my feet were on fire and my hind end was catching. I've never been that startled - ever. Nothing else funny happened that night but it was still unsettling.
Then last night I was on the bed once again watching television and my wife was in the living room with our daughter. My daughter was asleep in the floor. My wife comes in to the bedroom smiling saying why are you singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I looked at her like she had lost her mind. I said I'm NOT singing that. She said well I thought Willow came into the bedroom and you were singing to her and I again said no. She walked back into the living room to discover he still sound asleep. She swears she heard someone singing in my exact voice.
So this morning we were discussing the singing from the night before. As we were talking about this - and this gives me goosebumps right now as I type it - the fricking Twinkle Twinkle "tune" started playing in the house. It sounded like it was coming from the kitchen and we looked everywhere and could not determine where that sound was coming from. None of our daughters toys - to our knowledge - play that tune.
We were working in the basement this afternoon as we are getting ready to put our house up for sale. As we were working in the basement we kept hearing footsteps above us. Of course I thought we were just crazy. Then, the blasted door going to the basement slammed shut with us both downstairs for no apparent reason. There was no way a breeze hit that door as its hard to shut the way it is. I'm so glad we are selling this place with all of this recent activity. I have no explanation and have to say I'm a little startled with all of the crap going on right now.
