423 might be wrong that he will be a WR but he is correct in saying that he will have to gain weight. He will need to get up to 195-200 at least.

The last time I looked, those players were in the defensively soft PAC-10 and Big East conferences.

I in no way am supporting either of those conferences because I cannot stand either, but come on it is D-1 college football the defenses are not THAT soft. And there have been plenty of backs with that size that have turned out great players.

People kill me with this weight stuff. You realize he's not even a senior in high school yet right? He will put on the weight no problem.

just to review this point.... not even a senior!!!! weight will not be an issue

I just don't understand how somebody who calls themselves a Tennessee fan be mad at the fact that we picked up the #2 All-purpose back in the nation. It doesn't make sense.

I'm really pleased to see us pick up a "homerun threat" back. Along with Creer and Poole and the new coaches, I'm getting really excited about the future of UT's running game.

Who said I'm mad? I'm just not the least bit convinced that this guy will end up making a significant impact as a running back at UT.

Devine could play for anyone.

The fact that you think the Pac10 is a soft conference these days demonstrates you aren't paying very good attention. While you were sleeping, the Pac10 moved up to pretty consistently being the second best conference... with maybe the Big12 competing somewhat.

If a guy who runs a 4.35 and amazes people with his gamebreaking ability doesn't "least bit convince" you... what does?

I believe someone said he played 5A ball in Florida too. That generally means great competition in the area he comes from.

Devine could play for anyone and he is damn good at what he does. I seriously doubt he could take the pounding of being an every down back in a pro style offense. Believe it or not it takes some size to do that.

Let's just say that I believe his 4.35 hand-timed 40-yard dash timed by his high school football coach as much as I believe Barry Bonds when he says he never used steroids.

I believe it. I'm just not buying that this kid is destined to be anything other than a RB because he weighs 180 going into his SR year of HS. I said earlier that if he could put on 10-15 lbs he'd be big enough. Most guys put on at least that much when they get to the training program.

And that would be fine if he could put on 15 pounds of muscle (for now, would need more later) but some people can't do that as easily as others. He was just saying he needs to bulk up to play RB in our style of offense. I don't particularly like having a 200 pound RB as your primary option.

Let's just say that EVERYONE who has watched this kid play football is amazed by his speed and quickness....

Rivals list him as the #2 all purpose RB, #2 RB in space, and #5 home run threat. ESPN has him on the 150 watch list. Scout.com has him at 4*. He was a 5A All State player in Florida as a Jr.... Someone seems to know something you don't.

Do you want me to list some of the running backs that were more highly touted than this guy that haven't lived up to the hype at UT? Let's see...Gerald Riggs, Jabari Davis, Cedric Houston, Jamarcus Coker, and Jakouri Williams are right off the top of my head.

As a coach on the Gaither staff trust me when I say this kid plays bigger than 178 lbs. There's not an ounce of fat on him and he has good strength ( 500 + squat and deadlift ). The Vols are getting a heck of a kid that is truly a joy to be around. Jarvis lives for Friday nights and leaves everything on the field. The second half of the year last year he was running on a gimp ankle and was still unstoppable. You're getting a good one.
