Gilliam out with torn ACL

Life is often unfair. I can only pray that this is part of God's plan for Jacob. I wish him a quick recovery and great internal strength to overcome this huge setback. It would seem there should be some compassion in a case such as this to give the man a chance to play one more year if he chooses to do so. But with all the NCAA rules and regulations, there probably is no room for compassion. Jacob truly gave his all for Tennessee on Saturday.

That stinks.
You have to question the effectiveness of those knee braces.
Last year UT played the whole season with no O-line missing action.

Anyway, I don't care when a guy gets it as long as he does. Looks like the switch came on for Kendrick. unfortunate that Blair seems this unprepared to play at this level. Also a mystery as to why CT continues to regress.

who said CT was regressing? He's a freshman. If he were starting, you would be complaining about that too.

Mr. Gilliam,
First and foremost, thank you for all you have given to the University of Tennessee. You have the Volnation behind you in whatever you do in the future and know that your efforts will not be in vain. Thank you!

Remember, this whole OL situation (lack of depth) is the result of a former coach choosing/failing to sign a single O lineman in a recruiting class. We have good potential at OL, they are just being forced to play too soon.

Spot on...

I'm not sure you intended it this way but simply referring to a guy who fought for 5 years on this team to earn a scholarship and the nod from Butch Jones for the starting spot at LT as simply a "walk on" is some bs. IMO.

Get what ur saying, but look at the reality. This guy couldnt earn a scholarship for 4 years. He couldnt play on Derek Dooley's crappy teams. Not saying he didnt fight hard to earn it, but good players usually dont have to fight hard, they are just good and they put in the necessary work.

Butch Jones filled a very important spot with a 5th year player, probably because of his seniority on a line that desperately needs it.

It sucks that he's hurt and gone for the year, but its not like we lost a star player.

Most things are Dooley's fault. Even non-football things.

Dooley was saving spots in the 2012 recruiting class for those who never qualified or later got kicked off when Jones was hired.. Good Job Dooley.. You Jackass

I think this is spot on. As far as talent he was probably fairly even with the guys behind him. But as a 5th year senior and a walk-on who stayed around CBJ probably felt his attitude was worthy of a scholly and the starting job, plus he would bring seniority to an otherwise young group of players. We aren't going to lose talent, we are going to lose leadership.

I do not just blame Dooley. What about his offensive coaches? Chaney, Hinshaw, and Pittman
Could they not sign a single lineman

Dooley brought them to UT, so ultimately it still goes back to him.

Hate this for the kid and the team. I'm guessing he will qualify for a medical redshirt but being a fifth year senior and probably already got his degree, I'm not sure he will be back next year. Especially if our overall talent and depth improves with player development and recruiting. Either way, best of luck to this quality young man.

Yeah, he's a local kid and I feel really bad for him. He hung in, kept working and earned his spot. But underclassmen will move up, he'll be recruited over and will probably move on. A shame, and I wish him well.

Wait, what? He's a fifth year senior who's extremely unlikely to get a sixth.

This makes the Charles Mosley accident even bigger. He would (probably) be in the mix....

I hate this for you young man. Thank you for being a Volunteer For Life and hope you recover quickly.

1st, so sorry for this young man!

2nd, what a shame for Andrew Jelks and UT that he chose Vandy over us. He could be a starter for us right now at LT and not be stuck on a sinking ship.

3rd, glad to see the depth Butch is now building on the OL with 2014's recruits: Blare, Mosley, Raulerson, and Thomas; and
2015's recruits: Boulware, Jones, Hall, and Stewart.

Btw, DREW RICHMOND is deciding a week from now. COME JOIN US DREW!! YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID. :good!:

Does anyone know which quarter he left the game? I was there but I don't remember.

I don't mean any disrespect to Jacob Gilliam but, our offense seemed to be much better in the 2nd half of the game, so if he went down before then, I think adjustments were made and Team 118 will be fine.

Wasn't Blair grossly out of shape when camp started, or am I wrong? Doesn't sound like he's ready for prime time--or even afternoon soap time.
