Gillispie is a JERK

Volnation person makes fun of Coach X (a coach that hat happens to like), and out comes the Pearl bashing.

I think this is true.

I also agree with Freak - on this Board, taking shots at KY should be encouraged. :p

Jabs at other teams should be encouraged just like I would expect UT to be bashed on other school boards. That is what makes sports so fun to watch.

So we believe the police when it comes to Pearl and disregard them on BCG? I'm glad we're staying consistent.

I was thinking the same thing....

Apparently, the COPS who investigated the CBP "incident" were all Honest-Hearted Individuals who obviously missed something and therefore let CBP go free without so much as a slap on the wrist. But it was all Bruce's fault.

The COPS who arrested BCG were COPS hell-bent on giving Billy clyde a bad name, and cannot be trusted, but the truth came out and BCG was exonerated without incident. The Several arrests were all mistakes caused by rogue COPS who are out to get him.

Does that sound about right?

You mean the way any barmaid at Rooster's, Ray's ESG, The Copper Cellar on Cumberland, or the Downtown Grill and Brewery can direct you to Bruce's favorite tables??

I personally have sat and chatted with Pearl at Rooster's. I've seen him at the Downtown Brewery and Calhoun's on River. Never seen him drunk or even buzzed. Coaches, BCG included, can have an enjoyable time at a local eatery, bar, etc. Hell, they can get blind drunk for all I care. Its their life. The problem arises when the said-coach leaves the premises intoxicated and endangers the lives of other by driving their vehicle. BCG has been busted, more than once. Has Pearl?

You are missing the point due to your bias towards Pearl and your obvious mission to enlighten the world of his evil ways and pi$$ poor coaching.

If you think the remedial piffle Janine Edwards tried to pass off as a question was "legit and insightful," that's all I need to know about you. Also, what the Hell does it matter that she's a woman? She chooses to interject herself into men's basketball, she's subject to be treated the same as anyone else.

Ole Miss had virtually shut down one of the top 5 scorers in the nation. Now to the all-knowing Hatvol, I'm sure you were able to tell exactly what Ole Miss was doing stop him. However, to the casual fan, they might need a little more explanation and clarification on the x's and o's of what Ole Miss was doing. That's Janine Edwards' job...to bring information to an average fan who may not know every little thing there is to know about basketball. Therefore the question was perfectly legit when compared to the normal crap questions coaches get from the media.

I agree you with you that she shouldn't be treated any differently because she's a woman. Ask yourself this though...would Gillispie's answer have been the same had the question come from a Jay Bilas? Jimmy Dykes? Hubert Davis? No way in heck Billy reacts the same way if the question came from a male reporter...at least not in my mind.

Do I believe officers I've known for more than a decade and had on many of my cases, all of which they conducted themselves professionally and honestly in from start to finish? Yes. Do I believe what I read in a police report by some run of the mill cop I don't know? Absolutely not.

How convenient.

Not this fan.

I appreciate you saying that Brian as well as your insight. I live in KY so I know quite a bit about the UK fans as well. I agree with you that many of them would be upset with the "no-handshake" regardless of the wins/losses. The UK fans love to win...but they also like to try and do it with class. They want to get back in that elite echelon of NCAA teams like UNC, Duke, UCLA...a place where UK has been in the past. They know it's kind of hard to do if you have a coach who won't even shake the opposing coach's hand. You may get the W's, but it's hard to be thought of as an elite, classy team.

Like I said in the initial post...I believe Gillispie is one heck of a x's and o's coach. Other than that though, I'm not so sure.

And before I get completely flamed, I'm not saying this is ALWAYS the case. For the most part though, history seems to indicate that elite, classy teams have elite, classy coaches.

Probably wasting my time here since I think we've hit an impasse on this argument, but . . . You can extrapolate the entire coaching population based on the ones that you know to say that not many people have bad things to say about BCG, but many have bad things to say about CBP. You can also assume that since the police officers you've dealt with are honest and professional that these other officers are full of crap. I just think that the argument unravels a bit.

I don't assume those two officers are honest and professional, my dealings with them has proven them to be so. My dealings with law enforcement officers in general are the reason I immediately turn a skeptical eye to anything a police officer said. It's not a tough distinction to follow. I assume cops to be dishonest until they prove otherwise to me.

That is a good life rule!

:hi:

One thing I do know about cops is they CONSTANTLY try to manipulate teens, young adults by scare tactics. That is why anytime my boys have had any kind of run in at all with the law, the attorney I use normally says' "That's a bunch of bs. Don't argue with them, we'll settle this in court". So I guess this falls under the opinion of not trusting them, although there are a few out there probably on the up and up.

So you are saying your kids get into a lot of trouble?

:dunno:

If your kids are having that much trouble with the law then there is probably good reason. Maybe you were trying to make a point by inflating the number of times you have had to seek legal advice, if not I'm afraid you are sending your kids the wrong message by backing them time and again.

Maybe I am wrong and there are cops out to get your kids, I'm sure it happens but the law of average would say it was a problem with the kids.

We obviously know different sets of Kentucky fans.
