And the women who send Dear John letters?

My dad told me of soldiers and marines who killed themselves while in Vietnam after receiving letters.

I don't think she's the only one to blame here...

Did the letters tell them to off themselves or just break up with them?

This girl ENCOURAGED him to kill himself and even helped him brainstorm the best way to do it. He obviously had issues already but she pushed him along.

Such a compassionate soul.

I wonder what the sentence will be, probation to 20 years.

The girl probably will end up actually killing someone someday if she gets the chance. She shares traits with serial killers.

I understand that. But, I've been young and in love. Lost my mind when she left me. But there is no way I would have offed myself.

His parents should have been able to see the tell tell signs of his mental issues.

I've had it happen on my deployments to Iraq.

Still not the same thing at all. Y'all are missing the point here, and by a mile.

This case wasn't about the girl breaking up with the guy. This was about a mentally disturbed girl actively and very aggressively encouraging a weak and somewhat troubled guy to off himself. Maybe the most disturbing case I've ever encountered. She should go to prison for a few years--but also needs a lot of mental-health treatment.

It's hard fror me to have sympathy for a guy who can be talked into killing him self by a girl.

Its not for me, it just seems to come naturally and I don't fight it. If nothing else I have sympathy for him being in the mental state to allow anyone to talk him in to it.

It's not too different than a teenager taking advantage of another teen with disabilities, or a spouse taking advantage of a bedridden invalid. Only instead of sexual abuse this guy literally lost his life to which she proceeded to sit their and listen on the phone. The really messed up thing is that she probably was pleasuring herself while he did it because that's how screwed up her mind is.

While I don't think you should tell someone to kill themselves.... sticks and stones may break my bones. I will always teach my kids to be mentally strong and hope to hell they don't have friends like this girl.

I've had a friend commit suicide,it was for different reasons,but they would have probably done it sooner,if egged on


she is guilty of something,what it is I don't know,but he shouldn't of listen to her and when life is sucking really bad,you shouldn't be listening to one like her

Unsuccessful suicide is a crime in many parts of the world. I recall reading somewhere that in medieval England failed suicide was a capital crime. The state also took all your property if you committed suicide.

Just because something is morally revolting, doesn't mean it should be against the law. How many people through the ages have committed suicide after finding out they were being cheated on? I don't think anybody here would argue for cheaters to be charged with a crime, yet they are directly responsible for inducing suicidal actions. This girl is a nut job that deserves to be shunned and despised by socuety for her actions, but jail? I don't know about that. In the end we are all responsible for ourselves. The dude was a weak minded person that ultimately did what he wanted to do. He wanted to forfeit his right to life...and he did.

What she did before he actually carried it out was morally reprehensible. Her actions while she knew it was happening is a crime, I believe. Not making an attempt to either try and stop it or call someone makes her complicit.

Influencing someone to commit a crime is a crime. Influencing someone to kill themselves is pretty close to murder.
