Girl Scouts Push ‘LGBTQ+’ Agenda With New ‘Pride Patch’

I'm trying to understand why I should care if my neighbors are taking their kid to trans open mic night. It's their kid. It isn't pornography.
No one cares about that. The question here for parents is "do I want to put my kids in a group who has an agenda of normalizing LBGTQ lifestyles".

I raise my kid this way:

"LGBTQ folks have opted for an alternative lifestyle. They have every right to live as they choose and that's up to them"

Girl Scouts can now collect a patch for attending a Pride celebration, studying “LGBTQ+ history,” or creating art that celebrates leaders from the “LGBTQ+ community.”

The “LGBTQ+ Pride Month Fun Patch” can be earned through participation in several different activities from a list of twenty recommendations, most of which seem designed to help promote the controversial agenda.

“Attend an LGBTQ+ Pride celebration in June with your family or troop,” a document from the Girl Scouts says. It goes on to encourage Girl Scouts to “(r)ead a children’s book featuring LGBTQ+ characters.”

There’s a reason the mentally ill alphabet people didn’t form their own scouting groups.

What's the problem here? It's one of how many patches? And there are multiple ways to obtain this one. Learning about Stonewall is history and in no way inappropriate. Books with LGBTQ characters run a wide spectrum, and are not all full of inappropriate content.

I know folks don't realize this, but LGBT children exist. Not all scouts need to pursue this patch, but there’s nothing wrong with it being an option for those who do.
I bet learning about Stonewall Jackson is fine.

When was the last time you attended a civil war history class in a school?
Several years ago for me. But I know it was part of my nieces' curriculum much more recently. Unless something has changed in the past 3-5 years I belive it's still a major component of American history education.

Prepare for the lecture about how the civil war is taught. Take a look at who he's named himself after. This man is well you get the idea

What does it mean to be lesbian, gay or bi-sexual?

You're a sick individual. Helpful advice: keep your kind away from my daughter.

I can see being uncomfortable with your daughter camping with a trans individual, but what about a biological female gay scout? Would that be sick? Since all of "lgbtqtxyz" was included in the prior post.

I understand what you're getting at, but LGB/pride content is not inherently sexual in nature. For example, pre-teen/tweens primarily learn about different family make-ups. Keep in mind some of these kids will come from same-sex homes or have friends who do, so it won't necessarily be some completely foreign concept. There's nothing wrong with learning about different family types, imo. It does not and should not get into sexuality at these ages. Older kids can obviously handle more, like learning about Stonewall. But, again, LGB content does not equal porn. It doesn't harm children to learn about different facets of the society in which they belong. My opinion.

It would have meant so much to me if I had age appropriate education about LGB families when I was young.

No it shouldn’t.

Wow. You said that out loud. Ugh.
Did none of you play high school sports with a "closeted" gay guy on your team? I say "closeted" because I went to high school in the 70"s and if you were gay in the south and in high school, you certainly stayed in the closet. One of the best athletes in our school was gay....went on to be a dancer and choreographer in Vegas.

We all sort of knew he was gay and had no problem sharing the locker room with him....and that was when schools had one large community shower, not the individual showers they put in schools now.

I stayed overnight Sunday night in the Williamson Co, hospital with my 84 year old mom. She brought up the subject of the so called current climate of indoctrination and I swear she is more logical and reasonable at 84 and on pain meds than a lot of you guys are.

You remind me of all the people in the early 70's saying, "races ain't meant to mix", "my child will not be forced to go to school with a black child", etc..........
Fear rooted in ignorance and insecurity.

Lesbian girls and straight girls also share rooms all the time on hundreds of women's sports teams. I'd like someone to articulate what the specific fear is with gay girls and straight girls being in the same room - is the argument that the gay girls are going to rape the straight ones? Turn them gay?

I don't get it. The kindest excuse I can assign them is "ignorance".
