I agree with the face guarding and make her earn it especially after missing time! You reminded me of something I would say To my players if they asked me how hard they were to play! If they go to the bathroom you better be there to wipe them! They got the message!

Please don't call Holly a "buffoon". She was not a good head coach simple put.Admittedly I don't keep up with the basketball program like I used to. I think I've mentioned this before. However I do watch from afar.
This program is at a low tide. It started years ago allowing the buffoon to keep her job for several more years than she deserved and for any amount of time she was qualified for.
Warlick left this program with a jacked up roster. It's really that simple.
Most reasonable post on here tonight!Yeah, who could have predicted a "losing skid" from a team that barely made the tournament last year and then lost key players and 2/3 of their scoring leaders from last year could possibly lose to #1, #8, and #16 in a four-game stretch? That was entirely unforeseen.
Not like seeing #4 NC State lose back-to-back games against #9 Louisville and unranked Ga. Tech (after barely winning by 3 against unranked Duke a week earlier). Because "good" teams don't lose consecutive teams in February.
If Massengill and Davis continue to improve next year, Green is back healthy, and Horston and Key improve at the rate that Jaz and Rennia have done, then we will see a different team next year, especially with the addition of another guard and a three-point shooter with height.
I thought the all freshman SEC talk was sarcasm. Surely no one really thinks JH has earned that. Has that team been announced? How many spots are there, 24?I guess I haven't watched enough of the LVs this year to see where Horston is deserving of all freshman SEC. The games I've watched....which is A lot compared to average fan I think...I have been baffled by her accolades. I have no agenda to discredit or criticize her...just relating what I see and checking turnover stats etc. I hope she does great and is a superstar. LV losses are not something I enjoy. The fall of the program saddens me. I wish Horston the best.
Shutting her down would be the correct move right now. Nothing good could come out of continuing to allow her to decline. Her issues are all mental and not fixable overnight. Allowing her to make mistakes while basically telling other players on the bench I can’t play you cause you might make a mistake is just creating bad vibes. A good coach would put her on the bench til her body language got better.I thought the all freshman SEC talk was sarcasm. Surely no one really thinks JH has earned that. Has that team been announced? Realistically, it would almost be embarrassing for JH to be included and I'll bet she would think that also. I'm sure she's a good smart kid with high standards and knows better than anyone her problems adjusting to the college game this season.
The Harpers probably have sleepless nights trying to figure out how in the world to help poor Jordan. They've tried everything, are probably forced into playing her for much longer stretches than they'd like due to a very short bench. So far the result of not starting her has been she still makes the same amount of t.o.s, five or six per game, just makes them in a more compressed time frame which is even more damaging.
We all live in eternal hope that every game will be her breakout but realistically at this point the best solution is probably to more or less shut her down for this season (as much as possible), try to minimize the psychological damage, and have a hell of an offseason development plan for her.
Unless tournaments are the magical time JH starts to get well . . .
I started to think this when I heard Rick Barnes say with a very young player who's struggling, everytime you leave them out there too long it sets them back 2-3 weeks. Body language is exactly what he said he goes by to determine whether to let them play through as opposed to pulling them.Shutting her down would be the correct move right now. I said last night, might as well play Rennie as long as she can hit 3s. The rap on her is she hurts us on D but since we couldn't be worse on perimeter D, what's the downside? Some quick guard might go off on us or something? Obviously, JH is going to have to play some due to the depleted bench, but when and how much should be very carefully monitored. It's obvious the psychological damage is piling up.

I think we're all Jordan believers - no one is happy with what has happened to her. Not sure I understand the rest, don't recall Rick doing a deep dive on the difference btw consider and think what they've done. Depends on what your definition of IS is I guess.I am a true Jordan horston believer. But I agree with Rick Barnes, giving them time to consider what they've done versus give them time to think about what they've done is a whole different approach.
That's probably true, generally players wanna play. But there is also a chance less minutes might be a big relief to her. There have to be times making the same mistakes over and over in public is just painful for her. No doubt she desperately wants to get better and does not want to hurt the team's chances. Maybe she's ready to semi-shut down for the season.but to keep her on the bench extendedly is going to give you and adverse reaction.

Hoosiers. Chewing gum ring a bell with anyone. My favorite thing to say is, "If she ate before the game, you come back and tell me what it was.
Seriously, OTB (Off The Ball) denial defense is/was what was needed.
Make every touch she gets earned and the over play her when she does get it
A player like that, you cannot switch on
