The Nobel Committee was irrelevant when they gave Kissinger the Peace Prize.

Although the Economics prize is not a true Nobel, it lost its luster when they gave Hayek the award. The Committee was going to give it to local hero of developmental economics, Gunnar Myrdal, but they felt guilty giving it to one of their own. It was something of a scandal giving it to Hayek as well.

that still doesn't change the fact that Al Gore's Nobel Prize was a sham. It's right up there with Yassir Arafat's and Barack Obama's.

I can't believe Obama accepted the award.

It was truly shocking. But when Kissinger has one :dunno:

Having said all that, Gore and the IPCC are actually good choices. It's almost 40 years in the making.

Has Michael Moore done a Global Warming Doc?

I enjoy Moore's work, although, believe it or not, I haven't seen Sicko. Of course, a single payer health system is the best, most cost effective way of running the health care system.

As I've said before, 1972 was the first paper accurately predicting the effects of man-made global warming. We should have embarked on two generations of completely reshaping our lives in post-industrial capitalist society - reshaping them for the BETTER. Focused on human needs, and not the needs of Capital, etc. Instead, we built Las Vegas.

Since nothing, not even Kyoto, has focused more attention on what is the most important issue confronting the last two generations (and now the next three as well), deserving.

Far more deserving than either Kissinger or Obama.

Not that I actually think that oceans are going to rise 20 ft in our lifetimes, but that picture seems to show that the house has ocean views, but is elevated well more than 20 ft above sea level.

Have you ever seen mudslides and coastal erosion in CA? Not sure this place is safe even if it is 20 feet above. Add to it those tsunamis...

I agree that this estate is well above his 20' level of doom but with all the wild (and ridiculous) estimates and predictions thrown out there being within a mile or two of any coast would certainly be a very high risk, but only if he actually believed his own documentary predictions.

I think it's still safe to say that based on this purchase you would have to believe even he considers his doom and gloom predictions well overstated considering his choices in residential real estate.

Gore did state the 20ft mark, though the only time frame I'm aware of him using was "in the near future", whatever that means.
