Global Warming

He must have just learned to read about ten years ago.

Funny that he seems oblivious to the fact that the Earth has actually been cooling for the last ten years.

I'm no scientist and I certainly can't engage you in a scientific debate, but how do you respond to ocean levels rising if there is no global warming?

Water levels are receding in many more places, than they are rising, but they don't tell you that. The Earth is not a bath tub, and water doesn't rise like that of a bathtub.

I guess, man. There is overwhelming evidence that the earth's sea level is rising. I've never heard a place ever mentioned where the sea level is receding.

There is NO proof of it rising, just published theories of how much it will rise in the future. In fact, it hasn't risen in 50 years, and scientists have documented seas receding over the years.

To be fair, there are parts of the pacific northwest with isostatic sea level decline due to plate tectonics, but I know what you mean.

Not true. It has risen an inch over the last century. I am not claiming Florida will be submerged or any of that, but it is definitely rising, as inconvenient (see what I did there?) as that is. Not that I am a gore fan...

It's hard to fake giant glaciers breaking off and melting though. And I think you would admit that the article from this obscure scientist that you quoted represents the minority view? The IPCC certainly has lost credibility and probably has skewed numbers to make the problem look worse than it is, but that doesn't mean that global warming doesn't exist. That just means that they overstated its significance.

Here is something you should read. Might shed some light on the current data set.

Sea Levels Are not rising except in the lies of the IPCC

What crap. I may not be a sealevel expert, but when he starts saying things about co2 that I know aren't true, it casts doubt on it all. Why does one guy's opinion, no matter if he's an expert or not, count more than the vast majority of the field? And don't kid yourself, it is the vast majority.

The skeptic scientists are always the old fogies who haven't learned something new in 40 years...

You sound very closed minded about the subject when you talk about it. Always discrediting people, no matter who they are, fellow scientist or not. This guy has been doing work in the field for years, yet that doesn't matter to you. Do you actually have any field work you can back your claims on, or are you just going by computer models and predictions?? I've always seen where you say you study it and know about it, but I've never seen you speak of real world experience. BTW, I have zero, but I believe that it doesn't exist, so don't even play that card.

The surface of the Earth is always changing, and always will, mankind or not. Trying to say that the last 10 years of our existence will make or break the species is hogwash, as some put it.

I just think you are overlooking the point. The vast, vast majority of the scientific community disagrees with your side. They all don't work for the IPCC. Anyway, I'm outta here for the night. Good debate.

This is wrong. Check this out...

Global Warming Petition Project

Over 31,000 scientists disagree.

That petition is garbage. Many of the "scientists" have nothing to do with this part of the field.

I checked a few of the petition signers in Maryland and I found a cancer researcher, a professional engineer specializing in historic renovation, a biologist studying blood-sucking mosquitoes, a hydraulic engineer, a heart researcher, and a family doctor.

local warming: 31,000 Scientists don't believe in global warming?

I disagree that the vast majority disagrees, I say the vast majority agrees.

Goo night.

The fact the earth is warming at a faster rate than at any other time in its roughly 4.54 billion year history isn't a red flag to anyone.

so, there is some data regarding the temperature of the earth that long ago? Does Al Gore have a time machine or something?

Yeah, just ignore all the other data points too

I didn't say GW hasn't/isn't occurring. I have some skepticism WRT:

1) true amount
2) causes including how much could be man-made
3) impact
4) ability to control it

My point was that as the article plainly states it is folly to use 1 data point to make conclusions on any of the above 4 points.

To use that one data point you also have to use other data points such as abnormally cold winter this year.

Resorting to name-calling so quickly... Check the board rules.

When you become a MOD....let me know
the little red triangle beside the dot is there for a reason.....I mean.......if we are going by "board rules" and all

Someone made the comment of the fastest warming trend in history... well the earth HAS been warmer (much warmer) than we are currently. And even if all of this is man made, I don't think it's worth the knee jerk, economy destroying steps the activists want to take just for the sake of a giant power grab. Most of the things they decry as evil will be greatly reduced just due to the natural evolution of technology. In 100 years I'm willing to bet that the internal combustion engine will be the way of the horse and carriage. That most energy will be produced by renewable sources (mainly solar once it's been perfected). That is the way we all are trending but it will take time and trying to make it all mandated now is going to hurt way more than help.

I'm also willing to bet that once all of the above does happen, that same side of people will find something wrong about those and get them banned as well.
