well we had a bad coach. fired him.

now we dont have a coach, so lets at least wait till a hire is made before we chastise it. im not saying we for sure are having a good hire, but unless you have a magic crystal ball, i really dont know how you can tell we arent gonna have a good hire

No source, just a gut feeling that all the Gruden talk was the smokescreen to a much bigger hire. Looking at currentcoaching salaries, a $4-5M offer to Brian Kelly would be a huge pay increase for him....long shot, yes...but is wirth the conversation seeing his current pay is < $3 mill at present.

That would be Auburn. They fire Tubbs 3 years removed from an undefeated season and Chizik 2 years removed from a BCS title....talk about unrealistic expectations...

Why don't you wait and see who is hired first, before you say mediocre. Gruden isn't the only good coach out there.

UT is a Big Boy College and Must take care of it's self. We are where we are for a reason. UT hasn't done a good job of managing and investing in the Football Program, UT has no one to blame but it's self. Sometimes when a school falls to this degree it can take many, many years to correct, so just enjoy the season the best you can, after all someone always has to be last and this time it happens to be the Vols.....nothing we can do about it.

I agree 100% with OP... I expect to google the next UT hire, just like last time. It's the Tennessee way. Crossroads my a$$, we've already taken the turn to irrelevancy and mediocrity a long time ago.

All I can do is hope and pray because I fear that we will once again set ourself back and dig the hole we are already in even deeper.

It's because of fans like yourself that the next coach no matter who he is will not even get a chance...Always gloom and doom but boy if We start winning again you'll be right back on that bandwagon won't you?...People like you make me sick.

The next coach not only needs to be able to coach but he needs to be a great recruiter or have a great recruiting staff. We're not Florida, Georgia, or LSU where they just sign on the dotted line and a great recruiter is not as needed. This may be where we get hit the hardest in losing Gruden. We would have had the top athletes ready to sign with Tennesse if he were here.

Well the defense. Dooley and coaches recruited players for a 4-3 defense. Then change them again to a 3-4 defense with a first time DC. That is just not smart football.
