Go on Record Here about Butch Jones

He is a good hire and is already working to mend the bridges that were burned over the last four years. Give the man a chance. He has worked his way up to atleast get a shot at the big time SEC. I agree with him, if the players dont buy in it doesnt matter how good of a coach you are. So here is hoping the players buy in and we go back to the TN we all expect and love. Best of luck Coach Jones, the rational fan base is with you and we cant wait for Football Time in TN to come back next season.

yeah a team dooley's staff beat by about 30.

So, let me get this straight? Because of 1 game you're telling us that a coach with a 32-41 record is better than a coach with a 50-27 record? You do realize that CBJ has more conference championships than our last 2 coaches combined. Don't you think he, at least, deserves a shot?

I don't like your threads and have made that known because of their negative nature, but I will say that I don't expect much in the win column the first year. I expect improvement the second year and years after. Most important, we have a coach who is also a teacher/coach of young men and one who, based on his history, garners a big following from the student/athletes he has coached. Athletes who play for him will be determined, well coached, and will have developed fundamental skills. I wouldn't trade him now for 2 Grudens, if I could.

Honestly, IF CBJ puts together an A+ defensive staff and solid recruiters I think he could do big things here.

He has passion, drive and is very competitive.

He has to earn my trust so to speak. When he proves he is more than just talk I will be all in.

****just because I'm not all in on CBJ does not mean I am not "all in" for Tennessee, big difference. I know a lot if you claim if you don't support coach 100% your not a real fan but that's BS

Hes a 7 or 8 win guy in this league which makes him better than the last HC. UT will be fighting with Vandy and Mizzou for 4th place in the east.

The fan base , both rational and not, is shrinking at fast rate. These goofy decisions by men we paid hundreds of thousands to do the smart thing are puzzling at best and plain stupid at worst. The last 6 years hve been the worst 6yr period in Vol history. WE should be pulling out of this tailspin by now. We are not thanks to Hamilton and Hart. Why is it Muschamps buy-out is 1/2 mill and Chaneys is more than that. It makes no sense.

I'm sure this thread will be bumped many times in the future. That's the point. As of Today, December 8th, 2012, one day after the hiring of Butch Jones.. I want your opinion. How do you think we will be with Butch Jones a year from now? two years? three? four.... so on so on?

Personally, I can see Butch Jones struggling in his first year. By year two we will still struggle. Year three will be when he is evaluated. And at the end of year three he will be fired.

What's your opinion?

Underwhelmed. Did a fair job at a mid level school. Mediocre recruting, but now big program experience. We had a failed experiment with Kiffin, another failed experiment with Dooley, and Hart goes out and hires another experiment. Absolute genius.

Is that the same thing that was said about Saban coming into the league with his 43-26 record (1 co-championship), or Les Miles with his 28-21 record. How about Muschump with his 0-0 record?

Point is, until he coaches some games, no one knows how he will do here.

How do you know the fan base is shrinking fast? There are millions of Vol fans. Do you think 20 or 30 negative fans on VN is a drop in the bucket?

No wonder it's hard to get someone to come in to Knoxville and coach......

So our expectations of winning are what is keeping qualified coaches out of UT?

Ok folks. I just want the boys to be great off the field and that will lead to great things on the field. (Sound familiar?)

Now bring me Belichek.

It would be tough for any coach the first few years here. Look at our schedule and the squandered talent that is leaving. I think the players that stay are dedicated to make this team better and the recruiting class is stronger (if it holds together). I think Coach Dooley should have received credit for getting our talent level on the rise and coach Jones did that. I like the different offensive scheme. A@m showed us you can beat size with speed and keeping defensive subs to a minimum, the bigger man starts to have stamina problems, The bigger man can wear down the smaller man so 2 edged sword. I don't see us being able to line up and just play conservative offense and winning many games against our schedule. I like the be tough as your opponent but out run him mentality. On down the line with continued good recruiting maybe just muscle can win. I always remember The 11 game stretch we lost to Al. they had the muscle over us but they always broke our back with a big kind of trick play, 1973 first play out of the wishbone they throw a 75 yard TD pass. we never could recover. Spurrier plagued us with big plays, even when we out played them 90% of the game there came the backbracker
I like Jones chances of bringing UT back. We have everything in place Facilities, a renewed fan base, Our educational problems supposedly taken care of and a new coach with a winning record.

Why would you want Belichick? He was a disaster in Cleveland, just another one of these great coordinators who make middling head coaches. He can't get the job done, which is why Cleveland collapsed down the stretch in 4 out of 5 seasons. He's surly with the media, feuded with the team's best player and cut him because Coach Crybaby couldn't handle that fact that someone else was right, and completely destroyed a Super Bowl contender. He's a worse version of Dave Campo, or Norv Turner, or Buddy Ryan.

And he dresses like a hobo.
