Golden chokes in crunch time yet again.

After all, he doesn't claim to be a point guard. He is a shooting guard. He's basically taking one for the team by filling in until we can get a PG.

Wow people come on. We just battled with a top 20 team at their place which only one SEC team has a wiining record at and we all know who that is. We were right there even with no contribution from Cam Tatum and Maymon in bad foul trouble. Golden carried us through that game. Yea he messed up in the end but this is his first year putting up a lot of minutes and I think he has done really well especially in the SEC. We will not forget this and hopefully we play them in the SEC tourny with Stokes!

If you saw the last possession of the half you will see exactly why Golden shouldn't be handling the ball when the game is on the line.

You want Cam Tatum? Jordan McRae? Skylar McBee?

Tell me, who you want handling the ball at the end of the game.

Golden didn't slip on the court. Bost made a move and Golden spazzed out like he had done the previous 3-4 possessions. If you watch it you will see he simply panicked and bounced it between his legs. He didn't roll his ankle, slip or anything else. Golden had a good shooting game but his ball handling continues to hurt this team. He is awful agaist pressure and always has been.

As disappointed as I am to not get that shot off without Trae we are heading back to Ktown with a 20 point(at least) loss...He just slipped trying to get open for a shot....defense was bad but didnt cause the turn over...but actually I am quite pleased with a close game at State...they are LOADED...not for sure how good Stansbury is....but he has great talent....

Yes he slipped. I don't think Bost even made a move at Golden.

I've watched it at least 8 times I know exactly what happened but whatever. It was a classic Golden move not a slip. You think what you want though because it really doesn't matter.

Seriously people the Golden bashing needs to stop. He played a great game tonight. And who the heck else do you want handling the ball up top.

And for anyone who is saying that Cuonzo made a bad play call. HOW THE HECK do you even know what the play was? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Cuonzo didn't tell Golden in the huddle to dribble the ball off of his foot

Haha I was also wondering why people were saying "should have done..."

We don't know because Golden slipped/tripped/choked/coughed whatever you want to call it.

Golden didnt lose this game.he slipped and it is what it is.but Tn isnt even in the game without Golden.Does he make stupid passes and shoots when he needs to pass ?yes but as Golden goes ,goes Tn.
nobody is saying nothing about all the missed calls by the refs.MSU had 5 fouls in the 2nd half and they were getting away with a lot of bs.Golden will be fine and Tn is going to be better.

Dude...seriously. Watch the replay, Bost got a hand on it. Golden shouldn't have been trying to drive the sideline anyway and he did look fairly uncomfortable handling the ball the last 2 minutes, but it was a really good defensive play by Bost. I think we should have put Washpun in with Golden at the 2spot, Tatum is just out of control lately. At least we played tough and will continue to improve, maybe we can pull one out Saturday>>>!??

I will take Golden any day of the week. Like I said he is a baller. Whipped Bost all night. Outshot him, out hustled him and held him to 3 of 10 shooting. I would take Golden before Bost any day.

Some people just love to criticize these guys and I am guilty of it myself. But Golden played an outstanding game tonight.

He is getting better every game. He will outplay Kentucky's freshman guard Saturday as well.

Bost was all over him from the get-go. Would you have preferred we throw it in cross-court with that pressure?

I don't know.

I do know that right now, I want the ball in Trae Golden's hand, especially with Maymon fouled out.

We want the ball in Golden's hands even if Maymon is still in the game. Im not pleased with the way it ended, but, the right call was made.

It's okay. No reason to be close to the edge. Golden IS your guy. He kept draining shots in ppls face. It's all a learning experience man. I'm a firm believer that this will make him a better player. He understands the game and he will be our go to guy in these situations.

It's not like we really had another option here folks. Name the number of players on our team able to get open late in the game, receive the ball, attempt to create their own shot off the dribble from the backcourt with extreme pressure defense and no ball screen action?

Golden was the only realistic option when we didn't get into a set play quick enough. That's not to say the last shot was going to go from Golden as he proceeded to lose the ball in a tough situation before we got a chance to shoot it.

But there's no doubt he was the #1 choice to at least start and initiate the play/offense. Maymon couldn't do it from that far from the basket, Mcrae isn't that type of player, Tatum...no thanks. No other guard/forward was capable.

Like it or not Golden is our PG this year and we'll go as far as he can take us. His play over the last 2 games has really lowered my fears about his development. If he keeps playing steady like this instead of what I called "hero mode" through the first part of the season after Maui then we will be a good basketball team and that's without even adding Stokes.

GBO.
