See....you just can't help yourself......hate...hate....hate.......I'm talking about the ex coach that still talks about his love of Tennessee.....wears orange any chance he can.....supports our present coach and talks about the good job he has done....you know that coach that gave us the best six yr run in school history.

My bad, I thought you were referring to the coach that tried to leave Tennesee for other programs multiple times. Or were you referring to the coach that dragged this university through the mud and made them the laughing stock of the country...oh wait it's the same guy.

why the hell are we talking about BP? To deflect away from the 2 crappy NIT tourney showings, blowing a chance at the NCAA because the team thought they had done enough, and a double teaming sex/academic scandal?

The most successful period of UT basketball was led by Bruce Pearl. In case you have not noticed, the program is still the laughing stock of the country.

Actually they're not. We aren't plastered over ESPN with the words scandal...we don't have a coach crying his eyes out on national tv then going and F'n up a few days later again. We may not be lighting the world on fire, but we aren't an embarrassment like we were the final year of pearls tenure.

When did he try to leave multiple times? He broke a ridiculous NCAA rule and then lied bc he was scared he would lose his job......hardly earth shattering stuff.....how did he f up again after his interview on tv?

What? Him leaving school over unverified reasons? Who's it an an embarrassment to Knoxville?

It has yet to be on espn, or really any major market at all. When the pearl saga went down I had buddies in CT 800 miles away calling and laughing at the university.

You're right, Pearl's a saint, bring him back.

I'm not turning this into another pearl thread. I liked Pearl and everything he did for the university, but I also hate what he did to university, you can do both IMO. He left Tennessee in a horrible position because of HIS actions, if he's such an amazing coach and person he'll have no problem landing an elite job sometime very soon.

Coaches have people who put feelers out for them all the time. Pearl did it numerous times. Just because you didn't hear about it publicly doesn't mean it didn't happen.

You were the one that brought him into it....the worst thing he did to our university was cause us to have to hire Zo lol j/k the reason your friends called was bc tenn was rolling with pearl pretty good and he was a flamboyant figure....we suck right now so it's barely a blip on the scene.....if pearl was still here, this would be front page stuff.

I know that but also means that most if not almost all posters on here don't know one way or the other either

I guarantee you he put out feelers numerous times. A lot of coaches do. UT was not Pearl's last job. I'm thankful for what he did, but let's not be naïve and think Pearl was married to the UT job. Very few coaches are. His ego would've eventually got the best of him. In fact, it is what got him fired.

This is to BTO. Why so MUCH love to CCM? You didn't join Volnation until Jan. 2012., during the Martin era. I'm starting to feel like you joined with Martin to TN. Do you know him personally? Just curious. I would assume you would have been all over the forums during the Pearl era.

How do you know he hasn't had offers. He had an offer from Legends, a developmental program for the NBA. Maybe he's like Gruden? Realized TV is a better fit. Pearl is great for TV, you can't deny that.

What did Pearl do so wrong to the university that allowed Tennessee basketball to never get a bid for the NCAA tourney? I don't remember what our penalties were to be honest.
