Gone but not forgotten: Knoxville area restaurants and retailers we miss.

Larry Edward had three locations, kp. Oak Ridge. Halls. The Halls location has been Bel Aire Grill for years. Bel Aire is probably on the way out as well.

I ate at Bel-Aire Grill in Halls two years ago. Food was flavorless. Service was ok, but I do not know how they stay in business. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, all five in our party said their meal was of poor quality and wishes we had gone some where else.

That is the only Bel-Air left. The owner was a silent partner with the true owner, Tom Clark. He got greedy & tried to open too many bel-air grills. The silent owner saw the writting & bought the one in Halls out right, giving up his ownership in the others.

Correct on all points.

I think the notorious Bel-Air was the one by the airport. Sadly I think we missed this one in it's prime because one of the last few times we had gone there we weren't impressed.

Does anyone recall a deli inside West Town Mall across from Orange Julius & it was beside Walgreen's? Seems like they served deli sandwiches & hot pretzels.

I remember it really well, I think it was called Mark's Deli. I loved that place.

Flamingos
Hannah's on the strip
OCI
The Lap/The Library
Vic and Bill's
Sam and Andy's
(I was there in the mid-90's. It's all gone and unrecognizable today)

Oh man, that's a name I haven't thought about in a very long time.

Remember this place?

All of the Japanese motorcycle shops. Th' Katch used to be a Suzuki dealership. Yamahas on Sutherland Avenue, Central Avenue, and off of Alcoa Highway. Honda up the hill behind Toyota in Alcoa, on Central, and at Chapman/John Sevier. Kawasaki on Clinton Highway in a small building just south of Merchants Road and Law's Kawasaki behind the Alcoa Highway Waffle House. More recently the Kawasaki on Lovell near KP. The Suzuki/Triumph/Ducatti dealership that Albert Hayneworth owned just east of Lovell Road on KP. There were a bunch... the Honda dealership on Clinton Highway might be the only one that has been in
business very long. The dealer at Pellissippi and Topside has been there for a couple if decades too.

Not sure if mentioned but Ricks place closed. That was a special hangout for a bunch of us for years. Now, none of us live in Kville anymore so maybe it's fitting. I think it was bought by new people who cleaned it up, then it closed! Ha

GBO!!!

After we beat Awwbarn in 86, OCI was so full of goalpost that no one else could get in out of the rain. Not that we would have gotten served anyway. Too much Jack, you know, to stay warm.
