I think you might be overvaluing AR’s performances last year. Against P5 competition (Vandy, UK, LSU, UGA, and FSU) here are his stats according to ESPN:I think you may be overlooking Anthony Richardson. AR had one really bad game, against Ga, but find me a QB who didn’t vs that UGA defense aside from Bryce Young in the SECCG. Outside of the UGA game, AR was stellar every time he played, special play after special play. And he did this while being gimpy all year from an aggravated HS knee injury and a pulled hamstring early in the season, so Mullen decided a healthy Emory should play over a banged-up Richardson.
Florida has a ton of question marks and TN can definitely beat them. But to say “UF doesn’t have a QB on their roster” is more wishful thinking than factual.
I think you might be overvaluing AR’s performances last year. Against P5 competition (Vandy, UK, LSU, UGA, and FSU) here are his stats according to ESPN:
Anthony Richardson Game by Game Stats and Performance | ESPN
Passing: 32/53 (60.4%) for 332 yards (66/game), 4 TDs/5 INTs
Rushing: 40 carries for 126 yards, 3.2 ypc and 1 TD.
Hooker’s numbers (10 P5 opponents):
171/256 (66.8%) for 2468 yards (246/game), 26/3
151 carries for 535 yds, 3.5 ypc and 3 TDs.
Now, AR will definitely see improvement and growth with more reps this offseason and being a year older. He’s obviously an amazing athlete. But, I still don’t see anything special from him against decent competition that tells me y’all have a QB.
So edgy. No the point is y'all make our fanbase look like idiots every year by guaranteeing wins based off of nothing relevant. I'm not guaranteeing we lose but I'm not running around saying "WE'RE BACK!!! 15-0!!! THIS IS OUR YEAR!!!" eitherBecause some of you get so damn butthurt over it and it's no more stupid than " "guaranteeing" we lose.
I guarantee we beat their ass this year. Now what?
Lol.
I'm one of those people that don't worry about what anyone thinks about how I root for my favorite college football team.So edgy. One thing I am probably overlooking is that Mullen, much like his ‘recruiting season’ comment, seemed to think ‘coaching season’ ended a few minutes before halftime of y’all’s game with uga. I wouldn’t bet that AR was getting high caliber coaching from that point on. Maybe he will blossom under some new coaching. Physically the tools are there. I haven’t seen enough of y’all’s games to know how he does reading defenses or going through progressions (but trust me, us Vols have seen up close a qb that can’t do those things). I wonder how he’ll respond to some mental stress if your new coaches are bringing a better culture. I thought y’all gators played pretty soft last year, we’ll see what happens in Gainesville this off season. You make good points and back them up with facts, credit for that.
I wasn’t intending to compare AR to Hooker, but I do find it interesting that Vegas gives greater odds to Richardson winning a Heisman in 2022 than Hooker. I know, I know, meaningless in the overall scheme of things. But it is an indicator that those who have no bias either way, tend to see more upside in AR. AR had some stinker plays for sure, but he flashed some jaw-dropping plays running and throwing, often.
So did Hooker. Hooker was excellent, looked well coached, and was a massive improvement at QB for UT.
I still say, while AR definitely has a lot to prove, #1 being can he stay healthy, but I still think it’s a giant leap to say UF has “no QB on the roster.”
That's why you responded to my response to someone else.I am one of those people that don’t really care what you think. Get over it.
Agree. Every year we inevitably have fans on here that will say this is the year we beat UF. They have a new HC, have lost players blah, blah, blah. It’s ridiculous. What’s equally ridiculous are the fans that say if we don’t beat UF then Heupel isn’t the guy. If that’s the logic then we haven’t had a good coach since Majors.
I honestly cannot figure it out with Florida. Regardless of who we have at QB, offense, defense or head coach. Regardless of who they have at QB or head coach. We simply cannot beat them. Think about it. UF has had 1 good QB since Tebow. Trask was really good in 2019. Other than that they have had mediocre QB play and we still cannot beat them.
Even when we were at our very strongest we couldn’t beat them with any regularity.
I haven’t seen enough of y’all’s games to know how he does reading defenses or going through progressions (but trust me, us Vols have seen up close a qb that can’t do those things).
We do get their best because we’re their Super Bowl. We get in our own way of winning a often as they beat us when we play well against them. The vols always bring out UF's best game, and their QB will play like a Heisman candidate. They have done it to us 16 out of 17 years., What is going to be different? Hope we beat them but recent history says no.
That's why you responded to my response to someone else.
I'm completely aware of how stupid I seem having this conversation, but I don't care because it's worth it to see how serious you gator scardy cats are about it. It's okay for you to guarantee a loss but you lose your minds when someone guarantees a win. It embarrasses you. Some of you think we beat Bama before we beat the gatorsuck ... Lol.
Now, go ahead and give me the excuses. We have excuses for everything.
Lose our minds? Wow. Your definition of losing minds is a simple one. Gator scardy cats? Lol. What are we afraid of? All I am using is a 30 year history as factual data to say we don’t beat Florida. If you would like to refute that then have at it.
My opinion is that any TN fan who believes we can beat UF is a little crazy and it sparks my curiosity as to why they think that. Your butthurt over peoples opinions. Like I said, get over it.
