Good point on the Sports Animal abouut DD

none of that matters. when Dooley was hired, HE WAS THE BEST WE COULD GET... no one else would come.. Will Muschamp said no to 3.5 million..

its fine to hit on his short comings but the bottom line is, what choice was there?? go without a coach..

Larry, I heard a rumor that a deal with Muschamp fell through because we (Hamilton) would not agree to his "no buyout" clause for the HC jobs at UGA and Texas.

Ever hear anything like that?

Noone would go to a Major University without a buyout. So that tells you UT is a mess administratively. Also it is very interesting that people don't realize this. Hopefully Hart will get a better candidate that will stay around. But it has to be worth it. With that being said, make sure it isn't a DD clone.

What you past bosses think of your professional ability does matter. You aren't going to hire someone who previous boss would make him more that an entry level guy. Yes Saban isn't God but he is well respected coach in this country.

So we hired a guy that can't manage a program. And he hired a guy that can't manage a defense. Maybe that's why it's taking so long.

Let's not miss out on the next up and coming coach. i would rather be a lucky 9-1 with a bad loss to a top 5 team every year than 4-6 with us losing 51-48 most games every year.

Larry, I respect you and all, but that is a damn lie! A Dallas beat writer recently stated emphatically that Patterson was interested and interviewed the first time around. When Dooley was hired, he was still interested but was asking for more than Hamilton was willing to pay.

Kevin Sumlin was widely reported to be VERY interested in the job, but Hamilton chose Dooley cause the thought he had more name recognition. We can see how damaging Hamilton's hirings have been.

Turn down one of the most winningest coaches in the NCAA in favor of a coach who only won 5 games in 2yrs at Oakland...then turned around and chose a coach with a losing record over one with demonstrated winning record.

Please don't try to sell us anymore of that BS. You just lost all credibility with me, with that comment.

I think Larry just proved he's less "connected" than he has let on. After that BS, I won't believe another word that comes out of his mouth.

Hammy didn't give a damn about ut. All his decisions were idiotic. I'm surprised he didn't fire Pat Summit to upgrade the womens bb program.

There was the choice to roll with an interim. They put too much stake in getting a coach "by the end of the week". Making the right hire should have far superseded worrying about one recruiting class imo.

OOOPPPSSS. And take control of the Women's Athletics. Seems AD may have turned the Lady Vols around too. For reference, see UTC.

We obviously had incompetent people running the university. if the best hammy had on his friends list was dd then there ya go.

Larry is a great poster here, but he is dead wrong, and that crap needs to stop being spread around.

Other coaches wanted to come here, better coaches...and for one reason or another Hamilton shot it down. There is a reason he currently doesn't work here.

He obviously is an idiot!! How do we keep losing all these good coaches. All dd did was know the situation and use his lawyer skills and ad background along with his agent and got the best deal for himself. He know's he was in a no lose situtaion because everyone outside of ut likes him and they will all say ut is such a screwed up place etc., etc.

Hopefully we can get somebody who is the bomb coach who wants to stay.

At the beginning of this thread everyone was talking about how Dooley was hired because of his relationship with Saban. Sinsari is a disciple of Saban and he sucks too. There is only one Saban and that is fine with me. Let's find a coach and do our own thing and make everyone want to be like us and forget this Bama crap. One time not long ago we were on top of the mountain and my friends its time to get back to the top. Whoever is brought in let us support them with open arms and get this train going back up to the top of the mountain. Let's just think of it as were at the bottom of the mountain unloading the train and about to load up and get going back to the top!
GO VOLS!

+++1... Hamilton panic'd when he hired Dooley in just 3 days, just to try to save ONE recruiting class, and it's cost us 3 more years of futility. We could have done a lot better than Dooley, had Hamilton not been drunk on Sexton's offer and Dooley's "name".

Are you sure? Yep yup...you're right. maybe that's why we suck. Had sucky AD's and sucky coaches!
