Who cares who he coached under? He had a LOSING record and the administration HIRED him...there should be a 30 for 30 on this hire in the future...
This line is like the Romney quote in the first Presidential debate...."Some people think that if you just repeat a lie enough times, then others will start to believe it." Seems like many here have bought that lie, hook line and sinker.Remember our program was a dumpster fire and Hamilton had precious little time to get a staff in place and keep a recruiting class together. No top level coach nor a top up and comer who had other options were going to take this risk so Dooley accepted the invitation. He no doubt wasn't ready but he's managed to assemble a decent roster and stabalize other areas of the program. If he's not the guy, we should look a lot more attractive to a top candidate now or next year then we did in 2009.
Oh, Geez. This fanbase is starting to sound more and more like Vandy's, by the day.DD inherited a mess and we have been competitive against the teams that beat us. If we do not lose to AL and SC by 20+ then he will get another year, imo. Hart wanted us to be competitive. He never said we had to win against our conference foes. Replacing him with a home run is unlikely this year. The only available top rated guy would be Mack Brown. He is probably out in Texas.
GO VOLS!!
this looks pretty obvious in retrospect, but there were risks with this plan also.
however it looks like a no brainer when you factor in the length of CDD's contract plus the fact that his buyout is larger than that of mack brown at texas. can we get this put in the dictionary as the definition of insanity?
the next coach we hire will have that kind of buyout also.. we will not be able to hire any coach without that type protection.. even Gruden at 5 or 6 million a year will require a huge buyout to sign on
none of that matters. when Dooley was hired, HE WAS THE BEST WE COULD GET... no one else would come.. Will Muschamp said no to 3.5 million..
its fine to hit on his short comings but the bottom line is, what choice was there?? go without a coach..
