Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

Sorry to break it to you, but USC never has been nor ever will be a major or even a minor upgrade over a Vol head coaching position.

Lane Kiffin is a low life piece of trash. We are in part in our position because left after year one. Partly because UT didn’t have a castrate clause in his contract. Partly because we panicked and hired Dooley. When Kiffin took the job, it was at the top of desired head coaching jobs in the NCAA. The aforementioned caused it to be lower tier. He’s not wholly responsible but partly and for that reason alone every true Vol fan should hate him.

Good news is a few years later, the smug USC fans were chanting “Fire Kiffin” and when the USC admin did so, they did it VERY unceremoniously. He begged for his job for two hours in front of the team outside the bus, and they left his sorry rear at the airport without a ride.

And he’s black balled here so we may as well quit bringing up him because he’s Never coming back.

Lastly, I want to respond specifically to your last point. This is a message board. If you don’t like a thread, don’t click on it. If a thread triggers you, don’t read it. You sit here and cry about Kiffin threads popping up. If you’re that upset and triggered by them, an easy fix is to ignore them.

I was all for Kiffin coming back to Tennessee because I think the guy can coach BUT….after the silly “get your popcorn ready” and flipping the headset off and getting down 28-0 at half??? Nah I’m good. I’m never speaking his name on here again.
You won't" ever mention Kiffin's name on here again"? Don't worry, there are 300 others who just can't and won't let Kiffin go. The next Tenn loss (or) Mississippi win, they will crawl out from under the rocks reminding us we could have had him.

so walking out the door after season 1 wasn't enough for you to never speak his name again??? IDC how good of a coach he is, if you left us for dead you should be dead to us period.
Kiffin lives rent free in some of our fan base head sharing a room with Gruden. Not even Dr Phil can cure them. It's some kind of separation/rejection issue that science has no cure for.

I’m just not sure why some Vol fans still have this love fest for Lane Kiffin and apparently USC. Even after he went and coached at Alabama. If you want to dream about Kiffin coaching here, go ahead. I just believe you’re wasting your time.

Personal insults aside, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion and that’s ok.

He should have said It’s time

Kiff is a good coach and an elite football mind….and it’s really hard to dispute that from a “X’s and O’s” standpoint.

The thing is, a PROGRAM’S ceiling is set by the staff’s mind/strategy + team culture + raw talent.

My point is this: I think Kiff and Heup are both elite Offensive minds…….but I think Heups culture trumps what we’d have gotten from Kiff long term.
I don’t think Lane Kiffin is an elite anything, and I am shocked that anyone would type those words on purpose.

“You are wasting your time with your opinion you are entitled to do that I disagree with”

Who cares if you disagree. Not sure why you’re pressing so hard

Not sure who you’re quoting. Not me. I said you’re wasting your time if you think he has any chance of coaching at UT again. So we disagree. Who cares.

You obviously do. And no where did I say I think he coaches us again.

But go ahead and stay woke!

Unless you are a 15 year old why would you want Kiffin over Heupel. We hired a guy as good as Kiffin and Freeze without the baggage.
This is it…..you’re going to get good play calling and points from all 3 of them but Heup seems BY FAR to have the least baggage.

He legitimately seems like a good and solid family man…..at least until we catch wind of a second family in FL and a third wife in OK ha ha

Glad this wasn’t about someone admitting we shouldn't hire Gridem and hope that ship has sailed for gold.

Ole Miss beat the brakes off some pretty bad teams and everyone pumps them up. Then they play the big boys and get knocked back down to mediocrity.

No, sticking up for Kiffin makes you look like a clown. Honestly I think it's very suspect for a vol fan. Tennessee was still 1 of the top jobs in the country at the time so all that dream job talk is crap bc he wasn't coaching at a mid- major program. IDC what his reason for leaving was, he still left us for dead. You don't go and repropose to someone who already left your ass at the alter, just bc their dream person all of a sudden becomes single smh.

If you were offered a better job that doubled your salary after one year you would leave.

I think people that are still mad about it are weird.

Because they can’t remove their feelings for Tennessee in the situation. They think that Kiffin cared about Tennessee as much as they do.

Yeah if he left UT for like Florida or Georgia for the same amount of money I’d understand the contempt more but like dude got double the money to take a better job and a place he dreamed about working at and live in LA. Anybody here would have done the same.

The problem is not whether people are mad about it or not. The problem is the damage he did to the program by leaving it high and dry. I can not think of any other change in coaching in college football that has been more destructive to a program than Kiffin leaving Knoxville.

Al Davis tried to tell us the guy had character issues before he was hired here. Kiffin just had to prove it to us.

Unless you’re just talking about the aftermath, then that is crazy. If Hamilton had hired Sumlin or Cutcliffe instead of Dooley we would have been fine.

People act like it was a normal leaving a job situation. They asked Sarkisian first and he turned them down because he felt it was a scummy thing to do to Washington after only a year on the job. Kiffin and USC paid for the mistake as much as we did. His career derailed, our fortunes sunk and USC has been mediocre for the most part since then too.
