I guess there are a few reasons to like Kiffin, but way more reasons to hate him. As an offensive coordinator, he can be very effective. Mostly because be doesn't have the responsibility of being the head coach. I would not be surprised if Saban only allowed kiffen to talk to the Qb.
I doubt the manning family will allow him to coach Arch Manning. Which also makes me wonder how he got the ole miss job. Did Archie Manning sign off on that hire? I bet Archie is a booster but I don't think he cares about that level of micromanaging.
As head coach, his team culture is complete garabage. I hoped for his sake that he matured a little bit but apparantly not yet. Outside of Tennessee and Florida Atlantic, his overall record is 29-16. No national or conference championships. Has left every team in a worse situation than when he started.
Kiffen will probably be favored in Neyland but I hope he finds a way to lose. Either way I wouldn't trade head coaches.
Tennessee’s pride has become laughable. Ole Miss sure is enjoyable to watch!!! Wonder how Tennessee would look right now if they’d just swallowed their pride and gone after him when they could have. Tennessee will unfortunately struggle for many more years.
Don't gloat. Fact is, despite Lane's immaturity at the time, he was and still is a good coach. Ole Miss. rarely has top-level talent, and we didn't either during Lane's brief stay at UT. His out manned team butted heads with the #1 team in the country and still scored 21 points. We will see what happens when we meet Bam-Bam too. I hope we not just upset them, but produce 48+ to 10 beat down. But we will see. I don't want Lane here because I hold the contention that once a quitter, always a quitter, and he did quit on FAU like he did us. So, no thanks despite my accolades. If you want to hear some gloating, listen to what the Kentucky people are saying about beating Florida, a team that knocked us down and stepped on us. Yes, yes, yes, you can debate why both games unfolded as they did. But the point here is presumptuous gloating usually means the gloater doesn't know what they're talking about, or know but just want to make some noise. If the Kif gets a decent defense to with his offenses, you and the rest of us will be singing or chanting a different set of lyrics. I wouldn't want him here again even if he started winning championships at Ole Miss, but I can admit he is a good coach. Just ask Compton, or even Saban. Saban? Yes, once, when he nearly laid Bam-Bam low with inferior and undersized UT players. And again when he was OC and had Bam-Bam's offense rolling.
FAU in 3 seasons with Kiffin won more games than the 7 years before him.... Not sure how anyone can say he quit on FAU. By your logic, we hired a quitter in Heupel as he quit on UCF.
I fear you have a strangely different perception of quit. The Kif left the UT for a "better" job. He did the same with FAU. FYI, he wasn't forced out. He wasn't fired. He didn't even have Urban Meyeritis. He just quite. And you can just go on hating Heupel, some folks just don't know better and don't want to.
I'm sorry. But you just said a coach leaving for a better job / situation is "quitting"
By your own logic, we hired a quitter in Heupel. And you said you don't want quitters.....
He is the reason we sucked in 2010. The rest is our leadership. For what? HE IS THE REASON WE HAVE SUCKED FOR 11 YEARS NOW! WHAT PART OF THAT ABOUT HIM MAKES YOU LOVE HIM?
GTFO WITH the one I will not name!
Well it appears the jury is still out on the pirate in the SEC. As well for Jimbo.Mississippi State just beat A&M on the road. Surprised that happened because I've been told on Volnation that Mississippi State has this overrated head coach who won't last much longer in the SEC.
Anyways. Lane really isn't going to have it easy the rest of the year.
Whose miserable?? I'm just fine with him being any where but UT. I think we got a damn good playcaller already. How do you know we are going to lose to him or win with him?? If that was the case he would still be at that better job in Cali. The ex spouse argument ain't overplayed bc it's the same damn thing. What part of "I don't care why he left", don't you understand?? The point is he walked out when we needed him. You giving all these excuses but the irony of your comment makes my point. He thought being at USC was better then being at Tennessee. Good riddance. He didn't want to be here and that's fine move on. Why TF would we want to bring someone back who didn't want to be here in the 1st place?? That same USC dream job is open now and I aint heard a soul say bring back Kiffin. He is currently at a school that's further from their last Natty then we were at the time. You wanna root for Kiffin get a Mississippi jersey bc he clearly showed you what he thought of UT right after Al Davis told EVERYONE what he was.He left Tennessee to go to Southern Cal which he was vocal about being his dream job. Given their penalties from Carroll era, 3-5 guys passed the job up. Add in the fact that Mike Hamilton wrote in a weak ass buyout number if Kiffin left, not sure why you are PMS’ing so hard 12 years later for the guy leaving for his dream job. And once again, you wouldn’t bat an eye if Tennessee was in USC’s position with a coach in the same situation.
And sorry to break it to you…. At the time, USC was a major upgrade over Tennessee at the time. Tennessee was a decade removed from the BCS as a whole. USC was ripping off BCS games left and right.
And the ex girl analogy is so overplayed. I’ve never seen people so happy to be miserable than actually risk being wrong.
People would rather lose TO Kiffin than win with him. Pretty comical. Just like they would when Currie was going after Mullen and then last year when Freeze’s name was being rumored given his bad record. Pure comedy from folks.
Wanting to rehire a dude that left you for dead, and was fired at the freaking airport by that same job that doubled his salary is even more weird. Let it go.If you were offered a better job that doubled your salary after one year you would leave.
I think people that are still mad about it are weird.

BTW I'm not a math major but he got 4.5 mil from USC. UT was scheduled to pay him 2.7 mil in yr 2. That's a 1.8mil raise but once you factor in California state tax vs Tennessee no state tax he made 2.1 mil which was 600,000 less then he would have made at UT. This doesn't even count the cost of living in California vs Tennessee. So No he didn't double his pay.If you were offered a better job that doubled your salary after one year you would leave.
