Good to see Obama politicizing Trayvon

Go back and read the OP - he questioned why the "he'd look like me" part was included. What was the purpose other than to score political points; particularly with part of his base? Seems like a legit question and hardly right wing hate.

I saw earlier in the week Carney say no comment. But Obama was getting pressed about it by reporters. I am sure they scripted out what he was going to say and were ready for the question.

That's politics.

And, again, the base of the GOP, who were never going to vote for him, are going to make a mountain out of the mole hill comments. In the meantime, I imagine that his comments reassure the Martin family and the bitter community down here that even the President is paying attention.

you must be joking. I posted the quite in context including the context underlying his decision to make the statement.

why is the sitting president commenting on an on-going investigation? this was MADE a racial issue by the typical race baiters on the left, e.g. Farrakhan and Sharpton. Obama, in making his comments, confirmed that he believes this is a race issue (note: remember how Obama claimed he was going to be a "post-racial" president?).

he didn't have to comment. but he did and his comments add fuel to what shouldn't be a race issue.

The part that you and all the protesters are leaving out is that it IS being investigated and has been since it happened. There was no reason to arrest him that night under FL law. He will be arrested if the investigation comes back that he broke the law.

You conveniently leave out the rest of his comments Typical of the far right hate machine You see Obama first as a black man, then POTUS.IN CONTEXT of the VERY NEXT sentences, he is saying ALL AMERICANS want an investigation that gets to the truth.

But you of course omit that.

typical of the far left spineless nut jobs to stereotype and pull the race card. PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE OBAMA BECAUSE HE IS AN INCOMPETENT LEADER WITH A HOPELESS PROPAGANDA BASED UPON LIES NOT BECAUSE HE IS BLACK, hell I am not even sure he is black. So please come back with something of more substance.

Would you like to explain the son comment. I could care less for what the rest of his comments were. What was the purpose of that comment?

The OP simply suggested it was for political purposes and you labeled him part of the right wing hate machine.

Now you admit it's politics and it's clear there was political pressure for him to comment this way and connect to the black community.

So is the OP still right wing hate machinations?

Surely, he isn't speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

I know why LG has so much time to spend on VN during the day. He must get crucified in the court room and the partners keep him out of it for the sake of the clients and the firm.

Trayvon's death is tragic, and needless, and I hope justice is served, but Obama is just scoring political points here.

what if we find out that the crucial evidence that the public does not know yet is that the bullet was heading upward and clearly shows zimmerman had been knocked to ground and was defending himself by a surpise ambush?

what then?

still tragedy?

Oh wait I forgot, you people will jump down Obama's throat no matter what he says.

George W. never said anything silly or controversial.

Carry on.

And if he said something as stupid as that I would've posted it on here.

So is it wrong for a black person to try and connect with other blacks?

I fail to see the controversy with this. Maybe this is just one of these things I just wont get.

Do you think that quote was politically motivated?

Do you think that quote was politically motivated?

Hard to say. I would like to think that parents of any race could connect with the situation Trayvon's parents are going through. Your child getting killed in such circumstances would be very difficult. Further nothing in his original quote states to race. You all are actually bringing race into it because he is black. If Trayvon was Caucasian how do we know he would not say the same thing.

I don't know if he said it to leverage any political gains, but then again I don't know the President well enough as a person to cleanly dissect what his motives are for all of the things he says.

I understand that since he is a politician anything he says may be interpreted as to gain a political advantage.

Thank you for asking my opinion Tvols75. I know I can come of as a bit hostile, but I do enjoy a bit of discussion.

obama didn't say too much because the shooter was hispanic. if the shooter was white, i'd say the muslim would be heading down there now.

us far right wingers, (or Americans as i call them) don't see barack as black 1st, we see him as a socialist liberal 1st.

The problem I have with the quote is that it doesn't fit in the context of anything else he said. It seemed a bit useless unless he was using his own race in a political way. I mean what else could he have meant? If he had a son, he would look (appearance) like Trayvon. What does that have to do with anything regarding the situation? It's ok, I try not take take anyone's comments to be hostile unless they just flat out result to name-calling or something as obvious as that. You get in trouble when you try to read a post and associate a tone.

You are the minority that allows for race issues to dominate the mainstream media. Dumb.

I was in Arizona for spring training, and this black dude w his son were scalping tickets. A Hispanic guy directing traffic politely said, you can't do that here, you'll get in trouble. Black dude flipped out that he was being singled out for being black and got in the guys face.

The thing I hate most is that race is involved at all. Facts don't change because of someone's race but race sure as hell seems to make a lot of people less interested in facts.

Speaking of which I ran across this:

I have no real idea what this might be but, and I'm purely speculating here, it might have something to do with ballistic forensics.

It would be nice, but I suspect that we might not be having any discussion if Zimmerman had spotted a light skinned kid in a hoody. Truly there is more press because of the race issue, but unfortunately it seems likely that race started the whole thing.

I would be interested to know what that key piece of evidence is, maybe it will change my mind.
