Okay so now that the BCS era has ended, how do you view the new playoff system? Honestly, I had gotten so used to the BCS I didn't mind it all that much anymore and I felt that for the most part, it got the match ups right. Now, I'm not saying it should remain in place, it's just I'm not too familiar on how the new system will work (selection of the final teams). I'll look into it in the coming months so I'm not asking how it works, I'm just curious to hear your opinions about the new playoff system and if you feel like throwing in some explanations, that'll work too.

I wish it was eight teams.

My only complaint.

Can't remember a time I thought a team outside of the top, maybe four, that deserved a shot at being called "national champs."

It should be expanded. I think back to NFL teams that barely made the playoffs only to win the Superbowl.

This 4 team playoff is just as big of a joke as the BCS

I bet the committee screws somebody who deserves it every year. I can see this being infested with politics. Certain schools will still get in over others like ND. I really can see this being worse than the BCS.

It's a step in the right direction though. I wonder how many different champions we would have if there had been a playoff for the entire BCS era. Would we still have one in 98? Would we have played FSU, since they were without Wienke?

I've thought the same thing since they announced it. I can't believe they didn't just stick to the BCS formula since everyone at least partly agrees it got the final 2 right for the most part.

4 teams selected by 13, what a joke. Until its a 32+ team bracket, it will remain a joke. There's plenty of time at season's end to have a bracket playoff.

From WIKI on this: "Among the factors that the committee will weigh are strength of schedule, conference championships, team records, and head-to-head results, plus other considerations such as injuries and weather.
Have no idea how injuries and weather could factor in

If you effectively added 5 weeks to the end of the season with a 32 team field, it would most definitely add an element of attrition by injury. The last two teams would be playing an 18 game season. That's flat out crazy.

Agreed.

I'm also personally not a fan of a college teams trying to play as many games on the year as the average NFL team does regular season games. I'm not sure these players/kids are built for it yet.

Why don't they just eliminate subjectivity and make everybody get into a conference, play a conference championship game, seed the 6-8 conference winners and go play it off?

Why would you need a playoff if there's one conference and it already had a conference championship though?

It almost sounds like that issue should end there.

We'll get there eventually. There will only be four major conferences, and those four champs will play for the title.

You lost me.

I'm saying just take the conference winners that were decided by championship games and put them in a playoff bracket. Taking the "at large" bids out of the equation would protect the integrity of the regular season.

My mistake. When you said "make everyone get into a conference," I thought you were saying put everyone into just one conference. I misread there.

8 conferences with 16 teams would cover 128 schools. How many FBS schools are there?
