Goodbye Oregon Football

Wait, Tedford is a dirty coach who teaches his players to take dives and his previous stop was Oregon. Sort of makes more sense now.

Did he help? Sure. Was he solely responsible? No.

You do realize that the player that this whole Lyles scandal revolves around is a player that hasn't even seen the field yet...right?

That's pretty inconsequential. You honestly think a program is clean other than the one thing that gets them caught?

James was a Lyles recruit too. He helped get James in school in Arkansas so he could make the grades to get into Oregon

If you want to make THAT argument, then I'll just say that every major program in the country does it, but our coach/athletic department sucks at covering it up.

Congratulations, you have made it to the 4th step of recovery. Still a few more to go, though before acceptance.

But to the point, yes I agree that every major program breaks rules. This is beyond just breaking the rules, though. This is totally ignoring them.

Then what the hell happened to Oregon when Tedford left?

Oregon went from 9-3, 10-2 and 11-1 with Tedford to 7-6, 8-5 and 5-6 the three seasons after Tedford left.

What the hell does that matter? It's still an NCAA violation regardless of whether or not the kid played his first year on campus.

I can honestly say Oregon's staff is the first one to write handwritten notes thanking the guy they paid for a recruit.

Well, we'll see how much of a hand he had in LaMichael James' recruitment.

It will be investigated now.

Is it because of Lyles that Oregon had a shot at the National Championship before injury in '07? Because of him that we finished in the top ten in 2008?

Probably not since Dixon was from California.

How many Texas kids were on those rosters?

None that I can think of in '07. LaMichael was on the roster in 2008, but did not play. Darron Thomas played very sparingly that year. There may have been another JUCO transfer from TX, but I don't think he played.

I was joking about the Texas kids.

I do think the NCAA is going to make sure James and Thomas aren't, in anyway, associated with Lyles.

James' recruitment is going to be picked over with a fine tooth comb.

That's the thing about deals like this, every school has skeletons in the closet. Once the AA has a reason to look, it gets bad.

Maybe not but it's because of him that your program will be burned to the ground

'That doesn't prove anything.'- UO poster in denial.

Just got back from a bbq with about a dozen hardcore duck fans (eight of them had I<3myducks shirts or jerseys), and they were all acting like W4P. I decided it best to just shut up and witness...

To be fair, you do have to take everything he says with a grain of salt.

You haven't been in denial. Don't disappoint me now. Grain of salt or not, he has handwritten letters and the evidence is mounting. Some of it may be circumstantial, but that is enough for the 'AA to convict. See Reggie Bush case.

Yes faking injuries and paying for players are really in the same ballpark. An in case you forget he was the coach who was responsible for your only non cheating success.

Should I quote what it says about faking injuries in the NCAA rule book? Faking injuries takes advantage of everyones concern for truly injured players. And it actually could affect the outcome of a game.

Whether or not Lyles was the one who told Oregon when Seastrunk wanted to visit affected nothing.

Keep trumpeting Tedford if you want. I'll be fine seeing Cal continue as the almost-or-nothing program they've been for the last 10 years. Tedford's shelf-life expired years ago.

Wanna rethink?

I stand corrected on the 2011 point. Though, I don't see how that changes much. It was being claimed that all of the documents he provided were outdated. They were not.

Based on what has been said, Lyles gave information verbally about 2011 recruits. It's known that they were playing catch-up with the written documents requirement. That doesn't mean that they didn't receive legitimate services otherwise.

I can honestly say Oregon's staff is the first one to write handwritten notes thanking the guy they paid for a recruit.

How has it been established that they paid for a recruit?

So, you just went around pretending that you respected these people?

Thank you for the link. He once again denies steering any recruit anywhere and gives the reasons why.
