GOP wants to force this girl to have the baby

has any republican walked up to a microphone and stated, unequivocally, that he/she will seek to force that 11 year old to bear the child?

I didn't see any such language in the platform. There is talk of a Constitutional amendment, but that is nearly impossible to accomplish. There is talk of a ban on partial-birth abortions. I can't find anything that states that victims of rape/incest must have the child.

Obviously, you haven't read the GOP platform, which states that its goal is to protect all fetuses...does not make any exceptions for rape.

Santorum has said that women who are raped and impregnated should just "accept the gift from God." So has Sarah Palin, so have several other GOP congress members/candidates.

I never said a GOP candidate talked about this specific case. Do you really have a problem making inferences?

The GOP platform says that abortion is unacceptable under any circumstances. Any 2nd grader can infer that this means they want to force rape victims to have the rapist's child.

Whether he personally believes it is immaterial if the party gets its way.

Yup, the 11 year old must have wanted it...or maybe she was dressed too provocatively. She had it coming. She needs to accept the consequences of the choices she made (according to the GOP).

Or her body would have rejected the conception. Its science, afterall.

abortion is legal and the GOP can't do what Obama did and just ignore a law that they don't agree with

the platform may state that abortion is unacceptable, but the words mean little, if anything, without legal support

Exactly.

That is in the platform to appease the social conservatives.

Then social conservatives want to force this girl to have the baby.

No? I don't know anymore.

Why have it in the effing platform if you don't really mean it?

It is in the platform to get votes.... period.

I would think some right wing religious groups would force her to have the baby.

There was something out a few weeks ago that when Romney was a bishop in the Mormon church he went to a single woman who was pregnant and tried to force her to put the child up for adoption. She wasn't considering abortion, the church felt like she was too immoral to raise a child.

The dems want to kill all unborn babies.

See making shiz up is fun and easy.

Dems don't believe in God and think Jerusalem and Israel shouldn't exist.......oh wait, they put them BACK in their platform (after Barry removed them because Jerusalem was still a "bargaining chip" for him) by a one third aye to two thirds ney minority. I guess the teleprompter counts as a two thirds majority vote.

That's the most ridiculous argument ever.

Being pro-choice means the woman should have a choice whether or not to have a baby.

Being anti-choice means that women should be forced to have babies.

There is a huge difference between giving a woman a choice and forcing her to have an abortion. One requires choice, one is the government forcing you to do something.

If you are "pro-life" you want to force women to have babies. The GOP platform says they want to protect all fetuses regardless of the circumstances. Therefore, they would require that raped women and even raped girls have babies.

How can you possibly argue with this logic? Maybe YOU PERSONALLY don't believe raped women should be forced to have babies (which, in my opinion, is a good thing to believe), however, the way the GOP platform is worded, it is what they want.

Platforms are tools to real in the votes of the weakminded, which apparently includes you if you believe that there is any danger whatsoever of either party's entire platform being implemented as law.

Kinda weird you start a thread like this and have a baby as your avatar.

Maybe it's just me.

Such an ignorant comment. That baby is my daughter. My wife and I chose to have her because we knew we could raise her. We wanted a baby.

If you are pro-choice, it means you support a woman's right to choose to have a baby. It doesn't mean you want every woman to have an abortion. That type of simplistic, ignorant, propaganda is exactly what causes people to bomb abortion clinics, kill doctors, and harass places like Planned Parenthood.

It is stupid to think that pro-choice people want women to have abortions. I can't even describe how stupid and disgusting that kind of thought process is.

This is not the party goal.

Then why doesn't the GOP platform say, "We want to stop all abortion, except in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother."

They don't do that. There is NO exception of rape or other circumstances in the platform. Please, explain it to me.

Also, show me exactly where in the Bible it says that life begins at conception. This is the huge argument conservatives always throw out there, yet it just is not in the Bible. Actually, there are quite a few bible verses where God "rips the wombs of pregnant women open."

Gramps already did - I'm sure there's all kinds of stupid crap in the Dem platform too. Bottomline is that the GOP as a whole doesn't want to force this girl to have the baby - you jumped to that conclusion.
