Got an email from CBJ and the SEC Network

I currently live in Chattanooga and have EPB. I absolutely love it. I used to live in Tullahoma and use their fiber optics service LightTube. The Tulkahoma Utilities board consolidated your cable, internet, electric, water, and waste bills into one. That was the best service I ever had.

Comcast can suck a ****. I used them in college in Chattanooga. When I moved back to manchester in 2011 I paid my final bill, cancelled my service, returned my boxes, and changed my address with them and moved on. I was assured that I had paid in full and would reciece no more bills. In the summer of 2013 my credit report showed that a collection had been sent out for me from Comcast. When I drove up to one of their offices and talked to them they stated that my service was cancelled due to inactivity, andI owed them for a month's service even though I had moved away an entire month earlier. I spoke with a manager who sent me to another manager who told me I needed to speak to another manager. After a whole hour I had to leave for work but said I would be back. They then had their collections agency call me through an automated service to say that I owed them x amount of dollars. That was the first time in over 2 years they ever once tried to contact me. My former roommates lived their for another year and would regularly let me know when I got mail delivered there. I paid my last bill in cash and didn't think to save my cancellation receipt after a year, so it's my word against theirs. I also bought a car in 2012 and when checking my credit score it was near perfect. So to me it seems it took them 2 years to either fabricate a bill to squeeze more money out of me, or they had some computer/employee error and they won't own up to it. Comcast is a terribly greedy mismanaged company that I will never do business with again.

Well that's my rant.

Chattanooga resident here as well! Glad to see a fellow EPB convert! Seriously, the difference between having EBP and Comcast is like night and day! Anyone living in Chattanooga who is not using EPB is missing out!

Countrycoffeevol, what you recount in your Comcast experience is all too common these days. Watch for it if you maintain a website then decide to abandon it. In two cases over a period of five years, I did this. I notified each web host thrice - 6 months ahead of time, 3 months ahead of time, then three weeks ahead of time. Filled out the online form showing I was opting to not renew. So? My card got charged anyway. Excuse? I had to pay for the past year's service. BS!!!!!!!!!!! You prepay the service, that's why you get charged if you renew. What do I do now? When I know I'm going to not renew something that's auto-paid by card, I request well ahead of time for my card vendor to discontinue my old card and issue me a new one. Does it work? Yes, yes, yes. I hate those sneaky lowdown bazzards!

But what about the collection agency stuff? I keep final payment records in a fireproof box. The electric company tried to squeeze me 4/mos after I had shut down utilities and moved from Las Vegas. I have what's called legal software that guides you in writing legalese, in this case harassment and fraud. Sent it along with copies of proof I had made final payments and that was that. Hope this helps you and anyone greedy little bazzards try to cheat. This is more common than most people realize. Including canceled online orders that re-bill you months later. So you have to keep a close watch on your statements and save the one showing the original credit (removal). It's filthy out there.

Well I sure hope nothing shows up like this for my wife and me. We left after graduating last summer. I would be pissed if something like this popped up in the next year or two.

All the negotiating takes place closer to the deadline. It is way too early for the companies to start finalizing deals.

The fact that Chattanooga has 1 gig internet available at a reasonable rate makes me jealous.

No matter who does or doesn't carry SEC network, there's no way I am leaving DirecTV. Not as long as they have NFL Sunday ticket. Most Vol games will be available on another channel I'd think...CBS or one of the ESPN channels. Only a few will be on SEC network. Just an ASSumption on my part. For those games I'll find it online if they end up not carrying it.
