Gotta get snipped

I got snipped 15 years ago, and I still have occasional complications, as in, a dull soreness that makes me totally miserable. I know of a couple of other guys that experience the same.
If I had it to do over again, hell no.

Guys.... It's 2 days after Christmas. Lets put or implications, our differences aside and discuss what the vas deferens smells like being cauterized. Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

How did a thread about snipping nuts get a guy's panties in a wad?

Different strokes for different folks. Live and let live. Kumbaya.

That makes no sense when compared to the cost of a child. Even less when talking about the health of the mother

If you can't afford to get snipped you sure as heck can't afford to raise a child properly

I did the anesthesia at a surgery center because I had heard too many horror stories and I am not good with any medical procedures. My insurance covered me being "knocked out" so that is the route I chose.

I will recommend this. Have the procedure done around March Madness and plan to take a few days off. Also, I wear boxer briefs but getting 4-5 pairs of briefs really helped the support. I also had pain meds and phased them out to advil after the first couple of days. Don't plan on getting out of the chair very often except to go to the bathroom. My discomfort was noticeable for a couple of weeks.

I've never really understood all the horror stories about vasectomies but I guess everybody's situation is different. Mine was no big deal at all and everyone I've talked to about it had similar non-stories. The only ones that mentioned taking a few days to recover said so in a wink-nudge kind of way that indicated they milked it for the R&R.

For mine, I was prescribed a Valium that the doc urged I take for his benefit more than mine but I declined since I had work to keep up with that day. There was a little discomfort during the procedure but nothing particularly memorable; we chatted and joked most of the time. I think guys get wigged out just because the ol' beansack is targeted.

I took it relatively easy afterwards, didn't ride any tractors or anything but couldn't quite stay on the couch, and never took more than ibuprofen for the pain, which really was more annoying discomfort than actual pain.

Hate to throw a boring non-story into the mix but I thought there ought to be a bit of counterbalance to the war stories.

After reading the first two pages of this thread, I would try to convince your wife to get her tubes tied instead.

Everything I've read says vasectomies are less risky, less expensive and easier recovery.
Besides, she's had 4 c-sections. This is the least I could do.

Thank you all for your replies. I guess I'm moving forward with it. I'll keep y'all posted, with pics. When I'm recovered, it's gonna be party time at the salutethehill household.

No...no it probably won't.

It is not bad, or at least it was not bad at all for me. I am terrified of the dentist. Extremely mortified when a doctors hands go into my mouth. I white knuckle the dentist chair the entire time.

But the vasectomy was easy and extremely easy recovery. I have not had 1 ounce of pain since the day it happened six years ago. Good luck brother!

When they do a c-section, that's the time to have it done since she's already been cut. That's the way we did it.

I had to have it done twice because I apparently heal like Wolverine down below.

Make sure you do all the follow up samples

Also, I think I've mentioned this before, but after you recover fully, take a weekend away with your wife and you'll experience a new level of uh, physical intimacy.

We delivered at a Catholic hospital, and apparently they don't do those.

Also, some of the women in my wife's family have had female issues later in life. The one thing they have in common (besides genetics)? Tubes tied. Probably coincidence, but meh.

A white lion named Brutus at the Drakenstein Lion Park near Cape Town, December 29.

Brutus has fathered three cubs, despite having had a vasectomy three years ago.

I can tell you, being 29 and having a tonsillectomy done really sucks!
I've been through cornea surgery, bareback bronco rodeo career, wrecked a motorcycle and about 150 stitches total , nothing compares to the recovery from a tonsillectomy, absolute hell.

Good luck OP!
Go Volls!

That responsibility is just going to have to fall on the female imho, as she is the proud owner of a uterus.

Hope you have a speedy recovery. Don't eat any ice cream with nuts in it. :p
