Hope you have a speedy recovery. Don't eat any ice cream with nuts in it. :p

I had it done back in May, 3 weeks of hell, started with soft foods and just washed out the scar tissue, so doc said to make it heal faster and become tough to eat regular food I normally eat, it helped but it was no fun

I've heard this same thing a lot. Apparently when kids have it done they're eating normal foods in something ridiculous like 3 days time. When adults have them taken out it's just awful. Has the method changed for removal of tonsils or do they still go in and scoop them out with something akin to a medieval device?

Once you're asleep, they clamp each tonsil, cauterize them off with a laser. And wake you up, 20 minutes.

Adults have such a hard time because we have more surface area along with nerves, muscles and stuff, bigger scar longer recovery, gag reflex or something.
And we are stubborn and don't rely on parents to do everything , we want to get back to work, we can't afford to take off so we accidentally swallow a scab and cough or something, and bleeding is long and nasty, needing to get re-cauterized fast or you bleed out.
Kids are tiny and not much of scar tissue or area to heal, so they are fine after 3 days now.

What's this about being knocked out or having Valium? Other than a local, I didn't even get a piece of wood to bite!

My doctor was about as gentle as a gorilla and the nurse was twice as ugly. The doc would tug so hard that my ear would flop over.

I had to give presentations the next day which involved a lot of standing, sitting, and standing again. Imagine a twenty pound weight tied to chain resting on a cliff. Every time I would stand, I could feel the chain falling and then the ball would get to the end of the chain and I would almost black out.

I cannot see how someone would agree to a reversal.
