Gov. Bill Lee announces permitless gun legislation; bill would increase penalties for gun thefts

I’ll start this off by saying I consider myself conservative and believe in the second amendment. This, however, is ridiculous. Carrying a gun is not something that should not be taken lightly. How or why is it asking too much to ask someone to get proper training before carrying a deadly weapon in public?

OP: I believe in the 2nd Amendment (which states implicitly that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed).

Also OP: You should have to get the government's permission to carry a gun in public!!!

Sounds good. Now let's have sellers and manufacturers be legally liable if someone is accidentally killed by the carrier if they took no action to ensure that person was responsible. Let's keep the government out of it, and put the training and safety on the private industry.

The 2a does not release any individual from responsibility or liability thus if they act negligently they are liable. It’s their right to do so. Common sense dictates they learn how to do so responsibly. And Oh HELL NO I don’t want the damn government legislating common sense FFS!

I see common sense daily. I rarely see someone with a gun strapped to their hip. I'm curious which places allow a person to open carry on their property?

Ignore my commentary and think of the favorite places you like to go that aren't gun free zones. I don't carry so I've not paid attention.
You’re in for a rude awakening if you think people don’t carry in all those “gun free zones” outside of government buildings.

In TX the penalty for having a weapon in places using the proper signage is akin to a speeding ticket. If somebody needs to draw their weapon in order to get to go home that night, they draw their weapon, go home that night, and pay the speeding ticket sometime later. Working exactly as intended.

I have no doubt there are responsible gun owners breaking the law. Bunch of oxymoron's.

Sure does, as long as you ignore the part about a well regulated militia. I agree completely that it's clearly within the constitution to require a permit to carry in public.

Actually as legislation goes I’ve thought it was quite balanced.

Clueless people such as yourselves screech “he broke the law fine him! Fiiiiiiiiiinnnnnneeee hiiiiiiiiiiiimm!”

The still alive citizen, as he’s holstering his weapon, says “sure write the ticket I’ll get it paid next week.” 😂

The ole "hero with a gun" fallacy. More like a pussy with a gun.
Fine them hell, take their guns and take their right to vote because obviously a law breaker cannot be responsible.

What's going through the mind of someone that leaves their house with intent to break the law?

Because the 2A says nothing about a permit.

The Constitution doesn't discuss permits at all, yet ww require them to build sheds and hold parades, etc. But have something that can kill a handful of people in seconds? Sure, go right ahead.

Permits are governments way of making money off its citizens on all levels , local , state and federal .
