I can't even figure out where I stand on this. I agree certainly with the right to bear arms, but I still have a big problem with guns in the hands of people without training. When I decided to buy a pistol several years ago, I signed up for the safety course because it had been a while since I'd fired anything ... my first Army MOS was 11B10 - light weapons infantry. In Infantry AIT I learned a lot of respect both for what firearms can do, the need for safety, and how some people take some real training before they are anywhere near safe just on a firing range. Regulations, legal threats, and liability don't make people safe with something like a firearm ... only training, respect for the weapon, and responsible behavior can do that. Training is essential ... just like learning to drive is to traffic safety.

Is there a law that specifically prohibits suing for that like there is for firearms? Why do firearms deserve a special law?

Because if it were not the law idiots would have already sued them out of business.

Please tell us how many successful lawsuits have been filed against an auto manufacturer for the illegal use of an auto?

Go the "To Protect and Serve" thread and look at the training that our law enforcement gets.

I don't think you want to use driver licensing to support an argument for carry licensing. Have you driven lately?

As it is, 16 states already have constitutional carry and I haven't seen any reports of those states having issues with carriers negligently discharging firearms.

Defective yes. And if a firearm blows up in someone’s hands as they shoot because of being defective, than the company could be sued.

This is true , I could be sitting on a vault full of firearms and not care to know the first thing about their operation. Maybe I just like the sexy outline and the way they are shaped . That flat black finish or the way the chrome reflects back in NGVs eyes . 😊
It's glinty and sexy.

As I said, I don't know where I stand on this, but there are plenty of things that don't make sense to me anyway - like turning a car over to a 16 yo. Yeah, I've driven lately, and I get your point about the effectiveness of training and licensing. Neither does much good if the subject doesn't get the responsibility aspect. If we rule out the Chicago type thugs and wannabes elsewhere, I'm not surprised that people with guns are less a problem than people with cars.
