Greatest hip-hop/rap album of all-time?

If you knew anything about rap, anything at all, you would know that Rakim and Nas are two of the best ever.

I'm not talking about who you like the most but who is actually the best.

It's a pretty common consensus that Rakim and Nas are top 5 emcees...most have Rakim as the GOAT.

Saying that neither one of them is better than 50 is crazy...50 is not even the best in G-Unit
.

I'm not saying they aren't 2 of the best, but I've never heard of anyone saying Rakim is the GOAT. IMO it's even crazier to say that 50 isn't one of the greats.

You must be 20 years old...go to Google put in greatest rappers of all time...click on a few of the links...Rakim will be top ten on every legitimate list...more often than not he will be top 3, if not number one...you won't find 50 anywhere.

The End: the Greatest Emcees/Rappers Ever: #10-1 - Major Performers In Hip Hop and R&B Music - Epinions.com

This guy knows what he is talking about, he has a great list that extends all the way to number 50...most can't even name 50 rappers...take a look.

I have issues with that list...not necessarily in the top 8 but listing Mos Def in the 20's and saying that Eminem is overrated as a rapper is a little absurd....granted he has fallen off now, but you cant deny his ability.

Also had Outcast wayyyy too low...obviously this guy is biased, like all of us. Just depends on where you grew up and what you like.

Big was great, but 2 albums takes you out of the discussion IMO...Jay is good, he would probably make my top 10...nevertheless, you can like 50 or love him or whatever but when your talking actually skill, it's not about being a fan, taking a realistic approach 95% of rap fans would laugh at the thought of 50 being better than Rakim or Nas...out of that 5%, 4.9% are girls, you make up the .1%.

He may be biased...but he is very knowledgeable...I agree on OutKast but the whole point of posting that is dude saying that 50 is better than Rakim or Nas...lunacy.

Pretty sure I'm not the only one that thinks that. 50 has the skills, and he is one of the biggest selling artists of all-time. In the age of Itunes and music downloads to still sell that much is very impressive.

By the way Eminem is overrated...that doesn't mean that he isn't good, cause he is but if he weren't white he wouldn't have been half of what he became...the constant barrage on boy bands and Brittney were silly...most of his hits were jokes, literally, the song itself was a joke. not that hits matter in the best of all time list.

I would say that he is easily top 30 and arguably top 20.

He is not very skilled as a rapper, he is great at making a hook, but selling albums doesn't make you great, just means you have mass appeal.

Is Brittney Spears one of the greatest singers of all-time? Of course not, and yeah I just compared 50 to Brittney Spears.

That's questionable.

What does that matter? You have to agree they are 2 of the best going right now.

No I don't...Wayne has a style that is very unique, has appeal and makes a lot of guest appearances on hit songs...Drake is just getting started, I think he has a chance to be decent.

They are two of the hottest but not the best...guys like Lupe, Talib, Mos Def make them obsolete.
