Greatest hip-hop/rap album of all-time?

No I don't...Wayne has a style that is very unique, has appeal and makes a lot of guest appearances on hit songs...Drake is just getting started, I think he has a chance to be decent.

They are two of the hottest but not the best...guys like Lupe, Talib, Mos Def make them obsolete.

I like Lupe, but he in no way makes them obsolete.

It's not just my opinion, that is why I linked that list, it is an overwhelming consensus.

Not mad or trying to change your mind but I find it hard to believe that anyone who has been exposed to more than just what comes on the radio or 106 and park can actually believe that 50 has a skill set outside of making radio friendly pop songs for the ladies.

Thank you...like I said earlier, he isn't a top 5 emcee form Queens, he isn't even the best in G-Unit...really, he is garbage.

Exactly. Flavors of the week should not be considered in a "Greatest of All Time" argument.

This went form greatest album to the GOAT conversation but that is cool...I really enjoy discussing the issue anyway.

Fair enough. I personally don't see how anyone thinks that's the only skill he has.

Yeah I know. This is the first time I've had someone have a different opinion so it's cool to debate it.

I'm looking at lyrical content over everything else. To me it is number 1 as far as criteria goes. After that you gotta look at style, wordplay, impact, delivery and longevity.

ANd he has made 1 decent album in that time and has fallen off considerably as of late.

I would say 3 good albums in that time. I will admit it seems that he is focusing on other things instead of music. I can't blame him since it usually leads to a lot of money i.e. vitamin water.

Vitamin Water was a good deal for him, instead of taking a loot of cash, he took stock in the company, it took off and made him a ton of money...I respect his ability to make money and market himself but that is entirely different than being an elite emcee.

Yeah i noticed a while back we were debating 2 different things. I don't have a problem with rappers like Lupe (just an example), but I like other elements before the content like style and delivery.

That was a good rap. No problem with Jadakiss. Btw, what is your opinion on Kanye?

I think he is one of a kind, I loved his earlier work, as a producer he does what a lot of other guys have done as far as sampling goes but his style is very unique and his content used to be very good, lately he seems like he is trying to be too innovative, if there is such a thing.

Hoping he gets back to his roots as an artist, chances are though that those days are gone, still gotta lot of love for him though.

Kanye is one of my favorites. He is one of the few that really combines all of the elements that you listed. At least we agree for the most part on this one.

YouTube - LupeFiasco's Channel

50 couldn't make tracks like this...never.

Of course not many can, like I said Lupe may be the best alive right now...Hip Hop Just Saved My Life...and Go Go Gadget Flow...classic.
