One band (Nirvana) single handily killed an entire form of rock (glam rock) how many other bands have done that? I will admit I love the foo fighters but Neocon said they are nothing compared to Nirvana. Kurts' gonna live forever through the lyrics.

Pearl Jam changed nothing. Back then they were nothing. 2nd fiddle and loooooong way to number one.

Nirvana was the deal.
Pearl Jam cleaned up the scraps.

Once grunge went Mainstream "Ten" became on of the bestselling records of 1992 and when "VS" was released, it didn't just reach #1 on the charts, it outsold every other album in the top ten combined. That's more than just scraps.

Yeah you can bring up some kinda album sales to make you feel better, but Pearl Jam was and is a joke.

It is funny that they are still playing to an old timer like me. They appeal to a different kinda guy, and cheers to them.

But lets be realistic, they are nothing. They are another band.

yeah, because obviously album sales are in no way related to popularity of a band nor their relevance.

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they weren't a very important piece of grunge going mainstream and ridding of the world of glamrock. Also they are so much of a joke that they've now had continued success for almost two decades now. How many current bands can lay claim to that?

the PJ Austin City Limits show was amazing. It received high praises from critics all over the country. Backspacer even went #1 on the charts. You can hate Pearl Jam, but realize they are a very influential and powerful band of our era. Quit kidding yourself.

Cobain knew when he was going to quit (probably the wrong choice of words but i'll go with it). What i mean is he knew he couldn't keep going with Nirvana forever. Unlike PJ who is STILL playin the same "Even Flow" and "Jeromy" Dont get me wrong PJ is pretty great and i have em on my ipod, but they were nothing compared to Nirvana. Cobain even said himself in his journal "I hope I die before i become Pete Townshend".

But what i meant by Nirvana killing glam rock was "Smells like Teen Spirit" is credited for doing so

Exactly how I feel. Smells like Teen Spirit was the anthem of the 90's. They changed rock music forever.

Floyd and Zeppelin. Tool is probably my favorite band that still exist.

There must be a reason you didn't capitalize this one. I'm gonna assume this is sarcasm.

Its obviously Led Zeppelin

While Zeppelin is undeniably awesome, I still prefer the Kinks.

Jimmy Page was a session guy on the Kinks first record. For many years he tried to take credit for, then 17 year old Dave Davies, solo on rock n roll game changer " You Really Got Me".

kinks had number one hits in 3 decades. Ray Davies is still touring, I strongly suggest anyone see him if he plays anywhere close.
