Without thinking too hard on it, I would suggest Robert Plant.

I like Jack White, but that probably wouldn't be a popular pick for GOAT.

I am in the camp that Eddie Vedder may not be the best but he is criminally underrated when this discussion comes up.

Plant and Mercury always come to mind. Steven Tyler could shred vocally too.

I think had Layne stayed alive and continued to make the music he was making there is no way he gets left out of the talks of GOAT.

Not taking anything away from Layne at all. I think the work he produced was awesome and his voice stood out.

Chris Cornell. Wondering how long it would take for his name to come up. How insane was Temple of the Dog with Eddie Vedder and Cornell as co-lead singers.
