All time-Robert Plant
Grunge-Staley
More recently-Brandon Boyd

I'm also a bit partial towards Jesse Hasek. I just really like his voice.

Chris Cornell whines. He doesn't sing. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard.

I see a lot of people are including singers that aren't exactly rock but still great vocalists anyway.

In no order:
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Lindsay Buckingham
Sammy Hagar
Billy Gibbons
Steve Perry
Elton John
Joe Cocker
Elvis
Glenn Frye

and I know he isn't rock but Frank Sinatra.

Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury

Many more could be mentioned but these are two of the greatest ever.

Shame on this thread. Well over 50 comments and no mention of David Gilmour.

F Mercury
J Fogerty
R Daltry
D Gilmour

I would call R Plant's voice iconic, but it doesn't really appeal to me. I like how he wailed, but I don't like his normal singing voice.
