I remember Curt's run like it was yesterday. I watched that game at the Montgomery Bell State Park Lodge in Dickson, Tn.

I had the luck of watching one of Curt's games when he was in High School also. He played for Crossville, TN. The game I saw was the Cookeville vs. Crossville. Watson and Mack Brown were the leading players for Cookeville.

Speaking of Watson, what happened tohim after he got out of the military? He was a pilot with the Blue Angles while in the service.

Riggs in the miracle comeback in Death Valley in OT. It was late and it was hot. Everyone looked like they were sucking fumes. . . .except the explosion that shot left tackle and sent the LB into the Gulf of Mexico. Standing up. And throwing the defender aside.

I know '05 is a painful topic, but what a friggin' comeback win, ya'll.

The most memorable runs in Tennessee history are all winning runs against Alabama..... from the length of the field down to one yard plunges but the Jay Graham run does stand out.

I'm pretty sure he flew big jets for a major airline, my wife is a friend of his family in Crossville.

I recall Curt getting really upset about the so-called grandfathered seats he had been using in Neyland for decades.

He threatened to give up his seats during the snafu.

Do you know if the university ever worked something out with him?

It would be a shame for a great former-Vol like him to be alienated from the university.

I know it wasn't just one run, BUT what about Travis Henry vs. Arkansas the last possession. he was not going to be denied.

How about Jay Graham against Ohio St. at the end of the half - a back breaker - looked like we were just going to run out the clock and he broke it straight up the middle.

I was cussing at our conservative play calling on that play until he broke through the line - then I was hailing it as a brilliant call :blush2:

Talley another for Travis Stephens at Florida in 2001. He was an all-American that day. Every time Florida would make a play Stephens would come back and hammer another nail in the coffin. And the fact the little guy ran over some of their hardest hitters in the secondary (don't remember the names off the top of my head...) just made it that much sweeter.

I went to the game and the Gainesville newspapers were just brutal on the Florida D... it was such a sweet win.

I think it was Marquand Manuel, UF's "hardest-hitting" safety that Stephens ran over on his way to a 35 or 40 yard TD early in the 2nd half.

Travis Stephens v UF in 2001 then G. Riggs in SECCG

also there was a good run by Jabari Davis against Miami at home i think in 2002 where he ran like 70 yards but got caugth short before he scored, but then he faded into ablivian the following years

it wasn't a long run or even that flashy...but Tony Thompson over the top in the Sugar Bowl against UVA to win the game....Awesome.

Also, Carl Pickens i belive had a punt return or KO return against Louisville on a Thrusday night game...he out ran everyone....while looking back and talking s**t to the guys chasing him....it was one of the funniest things, and best runs, i've seen in a while.

It was a punt return. He was only back there because Carter screwed up the previous return.

A friend of mine, who was a writer for The Daily Beacon at the time, asked Carl about the expensive suit he was wearing after the game. In classic Carl fashion, he responded by threatening to kill him.

yeah, it was awesome either way...i just remember him running full speed, and him looking the whole time behind him so he could taunt the guys behind him...it was great.

That was one of my favorite road games ever. 1) They served alcohol at Cardinal Stadium and I took full advantage of that fact. 2) The U of L fans all thought that was going to be their big breakout game. We hit them with big play after big play and broke Jeff Brohm's leg. Current pro wrestler Eric Watts had to finish the game at QB for the Cards.

That was Cedric Houston that broke that long run. They pulled him and put in Jabari Davis, who of course averages .01 yards per carry. He got stuffed several times and we settled for a field goal.

I'm kindda surprised that nobody has mentioned James "Little Man" Stewart. I was young when he played, but always remembered his famous leps into the endzone. Didn't have a pretty good run against Va.Tech in the Gator Bowl or something? It's hard to remember back then for me

I remember the time we were playing Florida, it was in the early 90's and it was POURING down rain. I mean you could hardley see the field. I think it was Mose Phillips who broke like a 70 yard run just spashing through the puddles!!! Oh man it was awesome!!!!

He took himself out because he was tired after 1 play.

Anyway, there have been several great runs mentioned here.

All are favorites of mine. One I would like to throw in is the 2000 Arkansas game with Henry stiff arming an Arkie db to the ground while running down the sidelines.

Like tackling a block of cheese, Henry could stiff arm a Sumo wrestler to the ground.
