Greg King

I think that the current staff actually pronounced his name correctly, so Cooper at Miami will not be able to badmouth our head coach.

"It was wonderful," King said. "Tennessee is my leader. It's going to be hard to beat Tennessee. These other schools better come on if they are going to do it."

"I had a ball," King said. "We went out and had fun. We kicked it with each other and got to know each other. I had so much fun man. I felt like I was home. They treated me unbelievable. My mom and grandma enjoyed themselves. It was a big plus for Tennessee."

"The ride over was the best part," King said. "It was my first time to East Tennessee. I saw nature. It was such a good sight."

..

"The coaches are outstanding," King said. "Tennessee has the best staff in the world counting the NFL. They got the Kiffins, Orgeron, the offensive coordinator from St. Louis. I know I will be coached well at Tennessee. They have it going on."

No way he ends up anywhere else.

Greg King told Scout in an article dated 1/15 that Monte had already been working him into the defense.

"They have already come to see me. I like coach [Monte] Kiffin a lot. It would be nice to play in his defense. He has already designed stuff for me in their defense."

So maybe Monte does think King can play as a true freshman.

Just recruiting talk IMO.

Just recruiting talk IMO.

I will trust your opinion on this. :good!:

I am sure King will go home and get in Marlon's ear about Tennessee!!!

Come to UT, so I can hit you in the mouth at practice.
Come to UT, so we can carpool at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

It would be nice to establish a "Memphis Connection" and Brown/King/others could help set up a pipeline, where Memphis players take pride in upholding a Memphis legacy at UT.

I don't see how King doesn't sign with Tennessee.

I loved this quote:

"The ride over was the best part," King said. "It was my first time to East Tennessee. I saw nature. It was such a good sight."

poor Memphis kids...

King knows his choice, says visit to UT was 'a real blast'

Greg King knows where he’ll play his college football. He's just not ready to let the world in on the secret.

“I’ve got it in my head,” the 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker from Melrose High School in Memphis said Sunday. “On Signing Day, everybody will know. I know where I’m going.”

And what did King think of UT’s chances as he drove home from his official visit in Knoxville on Sunday?

“They’re in good shape,” he answered.

Maybe even perfect shape. King said the visit had an “extremely” strong affect on his decision as he described his weekend at UT.

“It was wonderful, wonderful,” King said. “I had a blast, a real blast.”

King said he didn’t commit (even silently) to UT this weekend. Yet he said he loved everything about his visit, especially the Vols’ recently completed coaching staff.

“Tennessee has the best coaching staff right now, I can tell you that,” King said. “They’re great coaches.”

King traveled to Knoxville with his family, who he said was also similarly impressed.

“Man, I had such a ball, me, my mom and my grandma,” King said. “It just impressed me a whole lot. We enjoyed ourselves.”

King said he will still take official visits to Miami (Jan. 23) and Arkansas (Jan. 30) and is also considering Texas Tech, where he visited last month. King has previously said that UT and Texas Tech led for his services.

ive been trying to tell you he didnt commit but just told the coaching staff that ut is where he wants to play

Dan Williams and Chris Walker are from Memphis so is Jeff Cottam. Hunter Vinson and McClendon is from very near Memphis also. Victor Thomas is from Olive Branch which is nothing but another Memphis suburb which is also where current commit Aubrey Phillips reigns from as well, just over the state line in MS. I dont think we have been all that bad at locking up memphis talent. We just seem to miss out on a couple of big name prospects from there every year. Past couple of years CEO has been the biggest reason for this when he waas at Ole Miss. If we get Brown & King this year, it certainly would make a statement about our recruiting prowess that would be heard in every front office in the SEC.
