One boosters plane in the vicinity of his town and people automatically assumed there was a connection...it made almost zero logical sense but I guess that doesn't matter.

Tons of private planes fly to Wichita for service. They are built there in "The Air Capital".

I hope not. It really is picking up steam in Nashville though.

A lot of things picks up steam in Nashville. It does not make it so.

However, if they are asking, it shows they are not completely clueless at Vandy. Marshall has built Wichita State into a damn good program. He has turned down a bunch of offers. Sooner or later, someone is going to make him an offer he takes. And any AD not starting their search there is an idiot.

BREAKING: VCU's Will Wade has received a contract extension through the 2023-24 season, sources told @CBSSports. Deal is for eight years.

Will Wade won't coach here. If Barnes doesn't work out then I'll be curious to see who we go after.

Why do you think that about wade?

Best case IMO for Barnes is 5 more solid years with 1-3 NCAA tourney trips and a sweet 16. Then he can ride off into the sun set

Just because it's an 8 year extension doesn't mean he's gonna be there 8 years, Shaka had quite a few years left on his contract. All it really means is that Wade is not going to be fired from VCU anytime soon and isn't leaving for another job this year or next.

The buyout is key

I believe that Marshall also turned down Alabama and was interested in Texas last year. The sports talk radio in KC always talks about how big Marshall's ego and that he will not go to a "football" school, so that may be why he didn't get the Texas gig. They've also said that his wife wants to go somewhere warm.

Because I think he likes VCU a lot and wouldn't leave unless for a high major job. He turned down his childhood school and used them for an extension, if all reports are correct. I don't see him leaving VCU anytime soon.

Isnt his buyout huge ? I thought he was just signed to an extension last season ?

Gregg Marshall's annual salary at Wichita St is $3.3 million. I just can't see Vanderbilt paying that. Now, Marshall has used interest from SEC schools in the past (such as Alabama last year) to leverage for raises. He could be doing that again but I will be shocked if he ends up taking that job.

The OP seems very excited about the prospect of gloating over a good Vandy hire... He has posted rumors about Marshall and Will Wade in another thread as well.

Texas has the money for buyouts --- Tennessee doesnt
